Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

feast or famin

last week in a one2one my manager strongly hinted we finna have layoffs in the third week of feb she said to keep my head up and document all my work also i been taken screenshots anytime a teammate don’t respond in a reason able time like ill send a slack once then twice then an email and if 4+ hours pass ill save that evidence so if we miss deadlines you best bet it ain’t because of me

figure others may want to do the same it’s a cold heartless world out there and our industry is really suffering right now PROTECT URSELF AT ALL COSTS!!!

@fd but doing all of those things might help you get laid off. So, that’s a silver lining.

@OP terrible advice. You are advocating being a total a--hole at work because you are insecure

Sorry, but I am taking this with a grain of salt because I don’t believe that your manager would have that kind of information. Mass layoffs are done at a higher level. Our director was totally in the dark and scrambling after the last round because he did not read this web site.

@fd Yeah productivity had absolutely zero to do with the last layoffs. We had highly productive team members who did everything extra get the axe.

Man you really put those 2 brain cells and that double digit IQ to work didn’t you. You realize there are trackers on your computer?

Everytime you log in, off, move your mouse, open an app, type, how long you type, what you type, in what app, how long you where in that app…. Everything you do on that company computer is tracked…

You think the C suite is gonna come in and be like “We finna lay off some ops, but we need all that sweet documentation you been working for HR….”

Nope, they are going to see you posted here on your work computer (yes I assume you’re that stupid) and give you the prize you deserve…

@bz Hate to agree (only because I don't want to come across as mean) but this style of writing may seem "casual" to the OP, but it's annoying to have to make sense of someone's rant when there is no start/stop (ie: punctuation). You lose the viewer immediately and your message falls flat. And for once, can we drop the word "finna" in a professional setting?

@OP

Writing literacy is the ability to compose text effectively for various purposes and audiences, a complex skill that is fundamentally intertwined with reading and or-l language development. It is a key component of overall literacy and essential for communication and learning throughout life.

Key Components of Writing Literacy

Developing strong writing literacy involves mastering several skill areas, which are often categorized as basic mechanics and higher-order thinking:

Basic Skills/Mechanics: This includes the foundational elements like grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and legible handwriting or keyboarding.

Text Generation: The ability to translate thoughts into written words, involving rich vocabulary choices and elaboration of detail.

Planning and Editing: The ability to plan, revise, and edit one's work for clarity, organization, conciseness, and correctness.

Writing Knowledge: Understanding different genres, text structures, and the audience for whom one is writing (e.g., an email vs. a formal report).

Critical Thinking: Organizing thoughts, making connections between ideas, and presenting information logically to deepen understanding.

Clearly, you've got a lot of work to do. Good luck!
