Remote workers targeted?

A couple of weeks ago I was asked if I charge mileage and per diem as a remote employee when I come into the office. (I do not.) Then more recently I was asked the distance from my home to the nearest remote location. I asked if there was any plan to have us come into the office, and was told that right now, there is no plan. Has anyone else had this experience? Is this a tactic to get people to quit instead of commute?

If your job does not require you to be there in person, A.I. will do your job. That is a fact. There is no remote job that AI cannot do better. A I never calls in sick, never takes a vacation, is never late, and works 24/7 without a break. AI requires no health insurance and no pension. AI doesn't care about 401ks or any kind of savings plan because AI doesn't get paid. AI never complains about layoffs. AI doesn't care who lives or who dies. And most of all, AI doesn't care about you. That means, AI and L3 are a match made in heaven formerly remote jobs formerly done by people.

@OP They are using the 50 mile radius rule: If you are outside the 50 mile radius you will be fine in the very near term. Inside the 50 mile radius, expect to be forced to come into the office or be let go. This is just the first step in eliminating parts of the workforce.

I know firsthand that upper management is targeting remote employees and enforcing return to office. If you are still remote, I recommend getting prepared an eventual role elimination or return to work request. It doesn't matter if you have an accommodation.

If you a remote employee at L3harris I say start looking for a job because next layoff and the following layoffs going to be remote employees.

Yes, The word is out and the potential customers know it. L3 Harris in their eyes is not capable of fulfilling a contract. The layoff will keep coming.

Yes they are targeting remote people and trying to remove them. They've been doing that this last year or so and its ramping up

I think they are done with the remote and hybrid arrangements that are left. No plan now…. So what.

Such a shame because work-life balance is a real thing and the new gen doesn’t put the job before all.

L3Harris is bidding on and losing contract awards right and left. This company is not viable. There are going to be lay-offs starting with low-to-mid level employees starting with remote employees. There is a strong chance you will be asked to start coming into the office in order to keep your job. Anticipate this.
