Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

eliminate all of the satellite offices

Why don't they eliminate all of the satellite offices and remote employees first? There are some directors, senior directors and VPs that hide at home all the time, some that wear the same clothes days on end that are never in the office. They hide with background pictures of their office, and while their leadership knows it, leadership isn't strong enough to do anything about it. So just fire them. If you are not in one of the 3 campuses, then you should not have a job.

@e6 is ratcheting up the absurdity the only way you think you can win an argument?

@dk Ok, how about Bellevue has no gravity and the only reason you dont go flying off into space is because it su-ks the life out of you.

You know we have retail locations, call centers, and sales teams that work out of satellite offices? That commute from Overland Park to NYC is gonna be a bi--h.

I’m a remote employee, work much harder longer and more efficient than most times I see people working in office or even when I’m in office.. the distractions are ridiculous, and my metrics and kpi data is one of the best compared to other markets.. if you think remote employees don’t work hard you have your head up your a**

@d0 All you’ve done is outline why it first existed, not why it continues to demand relevancy.

Cost to hire in Washington is like 30% higher than any other office... just shut that one down and hire elsewhere

Perfect example of what the toxic work environment this company has created. Worrying about who works where how long their commute takes vs there’s, magenta vs yellow culture wars etc

@ca D-mb D-mb. Frisco is there because of the MetroPCS merger and has stayed because of the NOC and Eastern DC nearby.

@bt Frisco is only there because Jon refuses to relocate (yet demands anyone moving to a back office role uproot their own lives). It’s a field office with HQ aspirations.

How is Frisco just an ‘other’ office when that’s where the COO works?? Jon Freier is there, so it’s probably considered an HQ of sorts or this company is backwards.

Working from home is done, find a desk somewhere and not just badging in and driving back home. They’re going to start calculating time spent in office because of all badge swipe fraud!

No need to ragebait. If the company is looking to reduce costs for facilities, the all the Bellevue HQ buildings should go on the chopping block. The same work can literally be done anywhere else in the country where there are big buildings and lower costs. Locations that service the operational network (where all of the $$ comes from) are more costly to relocate.

@ah that’s a perfect recipe for outages like the one Verizon had. Short staffed, untrained remote workers.

@af All the sites can be updated and managed remotely from the NOC. Only need a breathing person if you have to physically change out hardware.

T-Mobile is not a typical software company. Our cell sites and data centers are spread out all over the country. People who service and deploy these are the most new who keep all of your salaries going. Those who say all employees should be in the three or four main offices has no clue what out core business is.

You should be made in charge of operations once you get out of the janitorial gig at HQ

Remote and satellite offices first? Sure bud. It’s pretty obvious that OP has a child-like understanding of T-Mobile facilities and lacks technical knowledge of geo-redundancy, datacenters (Polaris & Titan) disaster recovery, and how NOC environments actually operate in shared facilities within the various operational groups.

As for the “same clothes for days on end” comment, that’s either gross if true, wildly exaggerated, or just a bad assumption based on seeing the same person in a recurring weekly meeting. If someone truly couldn’t maintain basic work output or follow procedures, that would trigger documentation and a PIP long before it ever turned into a layoff. Hope this helps.

Patience. All Toxic-Mobile jobs will eventually relocate to the Global Technology Hub (GCC) in Hyderabad, operating as T-Mobile Global Solutions India.

There are more than 3 offices, and many employees have been hired with the agreement that that’s where they are based. In Workday, Frisco is just an “Other Office” - not an HQ. If TMo hires someone located in an “Other Office,” or even a CEC, with the understanding that the role - and more importantly, the person - is based there, it doesn’t seem right to change the deal and tell them they suddenly can’t work there. It’s another thing to hire only in certain locations - then it’s part of the agreement upfront.
