Get ready to take it hard without lube. 10% at a minimum are going to get it. Some areas a lot more

I got the letter, vrad (copper) service is to migrate to fiber where available. After cutover AI will be deployed for any maintenance.

If this company could get away with just being cell service and have the fiber backbone, believe me they would do it!! problem is no one is big enough to buy the fiber to the prem only and nobody wants to be tied to another company to maintain their services.
once every home and apartment building Is "hardwired" with a dedicated fiber, it never gets reassigned, so guess what in 5 to 10 years we will only need about half the work force for new installs and for maintenance on the fiber.
copper is in process of being ripped out of the ground, I should know I am the one doing it!

@bs no one is safe. Your role may be safe, but be ready to move. Been there, done that.

Been saying this the last couple months. Oh well. You think someone at 140k or 256k is safe?? NOPE. That’s what is exactly whats getting cut

Anyone who thinks they are safe is delusional. Outside Techs will be downsized once copper goes away, internal employees will see more and more automation doing their work.
Now it is ATT, so they will find a way to hose it all up. But the plan is to remove all types of roles, not just inside jobs or retails jobs.

@dv
Trust this... you are nothing but a number to this large corporation. Your closing of the business due to mass exodus is cute. You believing your daily existence here is propping this company up, is cute. Your daily activities could be gone tomorrow and that day will still be business as usual for T. Your, watch us take this company down moment is really cute though! You do realize you work for the same company openly pushing the tech that will end all Administrative positions within and using those same, soon to be replaced people, to train it!?!? Cute though, keep fighting your fight, whatever gets you happily through the day!

Just wait for the job market to turn around. Stink will be the one biting the pillow then. The reputational damage that’s been done by RTO and the 8/1 email can never be undone. There will be a mass exodus from this place. Today, 40% of the employee base is 3-5 years away from retirement and anyone under 40 is already leaving in droves. The sh!tty “leadership” and their lack of integrity will cause this company to collapse before 2030.

“ I don’t think I will trust someone who accompanies this tidbit with exclamations about lube.”

Probably speaks from much “experience” on that particular topic.
