Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Name one thing that improved with RTO

Anything?

The only thing I can think of is that now I'm fully ignoring anything work related after business hours, and I used to be available at all hours while WFH. But that certainly can't be considered an improvement for the company. Is there anything you can think of?

For me? Daily caloric intake has gone down, caffeine intake has gone up, 4:20 now means that I need to start wrapping up for the day.

Productivity is hard to say. I hear a lot of non work conversations. I don't like the people who talk about how great iit is to be rid of the 'dead weight' while i see them watching Facebook videos of police chases, the cart guy, Karen's, libs... You know, but boy do they act like that one email reply was like the Magna freakin Carta.

In conclusion, I think those mandatory vax shots have made us all a little lazier. Presence tracking should include afternoon naptime.

RTO FTW! gg stank

I never open my laptop or look at my cou once they go in the bag to go home, especially after the presence report fiasco showed that the company doesn’t think work done outside of their dumps is actual work. I took that message to heart so I guess that’s an improvement.

Many employees who could never be reached after noon even though they appeared to be online are now available when needed.

“ Honestly RTO is a very widespread idea and weather it’s right are wrong we weren’t the first. Now state and federal governments have started to require it. It’s no surprise to me.”

That was done to get people to quit or retire. Elon and Vivek said that was the reason in many interviews. Everyone else followed suit with the same goal in mind. It has never really been about collaboration. It has always been a way to cut headcount without announcing layoffs and having to pay severance.

RTO has improved Work Life Balance. It’s 8 and skate now instead of 10-12 hour days. Also less pressure to feel like you need to provide results. Just show up swipe the badge sit in seat for 8 hours and leave. Thats all that matters now. Pressure and workload if now offloaded to the H1Bs and NVWs.

Of course people hate it. Traffic is bad and people are loud and annoying but it is work and I’m glad to have a job that pays me well. Do I wish I could work from, home? Sure almost everyone wants that and most of us cannot. Many never got to and it’s fine. I’m sure many have left for WFH opportunities if you can find one that’s great. What’s bad is you have to come in but your boss doesn’t. This is a big mistake by leadership because it ki-ls morale. A person that’s bitter about RTO but there boss does it too is more likely to accept it.

@OP same I have to get to office early just to get a desk so when my 8 hours are up I’m done so the extra work they got out of me for free is done.

It improved our work/life balance by making us concern ourselves less with AT&T and paying closer attention to the end of the duty day. We work 8 to 9 hours a day while taking lunch into consideration. I work from 0600 to 1400 and grab lunch on the way home to enjoy the rest of my day, unaffected by any calls until 0600 the next day.
