Thread regarding NetApp layoffs

How long before the next round?

We all know this is far from over, so when will it continue?

A few colleagues meets expectation and exceed expectation also got let go. You just need to get ready or jump ship.

Small silent layoff is already planned. Next few weeks. The next big one will be before thanksgiving, as it always is.

There will be silent layoffs end of June. There will be another large layoff in September/October. Already being planned. Bookmark it.

@b4 that is pretty spot on - I agree, I have been with Netapp 10 yrs.

My only caveat would be that maybe it will be different this year. Lots of tech companies having regular (as every quarter/6 months) big layoffs. Let’s hope Netapp will not ramp up on the layoffs…

Probably November is next.

From my experience in the past couple years, there's a spring layoff between start of Q1, late April, early May, and Thrive ICP/Rewards payouts, which are in July. This is usually the largest layoff in the year.

There's also another Q2 layoff in fall between September and November. Fewer people than the spring but expect to lose a handful of people in your greater business unit.

And throughout the year, several teams will re-org, which will be a one off of a few people each quarter.

Not definitive or confirmed but the patterns I've observed in the past 2 years.

Well, this round targeted senior and principal engineers (at least in the US), most of them key contributors to innovation and product development. They were not remote and yes, all of the ones I'm aware of, were really productive. So this was clearly meant to reduce costs, not based on "performance".

The next one will probably be the one affecting those not meeting Thrive metrics or labeled as "underperformers".

This DOGE-like approach to cuts will come bite us in the a-s. I still cannot believe they cut the people they cut. Good luck to those vibe coders trying to fill that gap.
