Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

There hasn’t been a word invented yet that describes how little Jane cares about employees.

She is laughing her @ss off every time she thinks about her 20 million $ raise last year and the 20 million $ the year before that, knowing that YOU are not getting a dime.
All wrapped up in “the bar is raised, you guys need to step it up”. Rest assured she’s got the biggest smile on her face every night she lays down to go to sleep.

Don’t forget, you’re measured on results not attempts. If you don’t execute and complete successfully an already bad idea or direction given by management, lacking resources\headcount or not and that was doomed to fail to begin with, then you fail, not management.

“Apathy” is the word that’s as close as you’re going to get.
A profound lack of feeling, concern or interest. In this case to “you” the employee.
She does care about her well deserved bonus and pay though.
There’s no issue in so readily accepting that, again not you, just her. The money goes to her.

So long as Jane gets hers….nothing else matters. This is where you stand.

@bm to clarify, I'm a capitalist and shouldn't have used 'unfortunately'. Though there are crazy flaws in our system and I honestly feel it's going to get exponentially worse with AI and robotics. What do you do with the mass population of everything is automated? How do you distribute resources, land, etc. if there are significantly less jobs in 20-50 years? it's a societal, economic, and political problem. I'm not worried about myself, but have empathy toward the youth and future challenges for common staff and jobs.

@be

What tangible value does she add? Nothing. Just cozy up with Trump.

Jane is probably getting the best sleep she’s had in years.

@aw

"but that's unfortunately the society that meant of us live in"

I would never put the word "unfortunately" in that sentence. We are fortunate to be living in a capitalist society, because I can assure you the alternative is leftist progressive socialist he-l.

The reality though is that is how our society has established economics and competition. It's not just Citi, it's every major corporation. This is a social, economic , and political problem. Its not like the C-level is just going to hand out money for being nice - this is a for-profit company. Either make a change or don't, but capitalism isn't intended to hand out money, you have to figure out a way to make it competitively. Capitalism is far from perfect, but that's unfortunately the society that meant of us live in.
