Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

Folks… they are doing you a favor if they cut you. You’ll be free from the foxhole mentality that Sabre breeds. It may and likely will be scary at first but I promise you’ll come through it better than when you were at Sabre. The ones to feel sorry for are those left to pick up the pieces. They will still be living the nightmare. There truly is light at the end of the Sabre tunnel. You’ll be better off without Sabre… I promise! Best wishes!

Why not 69? - because it should be 67!

don't think other countries would have exact numbers. afaik this sort of notification is only required in some of the European countries. possibly UK as well?

@bj It's both reassuring and the opposite at the same time. Never was more confused, what a time to be alive

@bb contractors are not employees. They are resources. Contractors are not laid off, but scaled down.

@ba Do you have any more info? Does that also include contractors of Sabre?

@b7 Polish employees already got all information (which is required by the Polish law):

  • number of people affected
  • the list of the positions affected with the actual numer (e.g. senior software engineer: 2)
  • selwction criteria (nothing groundbreaking - skills, seniority, commitment)
  • the last day
  • additional "benefits" if the affected person agrees on converting the "layoff" into "mutual agreement" (e.g. a few additional severance pay, amount depend on the company's employment time)

@b7 Already done, people to let go have already been identified. Now it's just about notifying them.

How will the people who are laid off be selected? Will it be a lottery, or will they start by letting people go from the managers?”

‘Consulting’ affected? They are not exactly contributing to the bottom line.
Unlike KRK potential…

@ax It's pretty much immediate. No time for sabotage or something.

@ax Last time there were layoffs it was your last day, you were cut off from all systems and were just supposed to return your laptop at the front desk. No reason to think this time it'd be any different.

Anyone have info on timing? For example, if I am told this Friday that I am gone, will my last day be Friday? Two weeks from Friday?

@a6 final for now, at least next 30 days. Mail sent 10 min after Kurt video message. In Poland there is a Labor Law that you need to be informed about group reductions (above 30 employees when headcount is above 300. We have 1039 folks)
