For those of us considering relocating with our families or leaving, which way are you leaning and why? Huge decision but concerns on relocating then getting laid off. How’s the job market in HOU?
Also heard houses aren’t increasing in value as much as locations we are relocating from

@bb first part of comment, totally agree as it happened to me. The second comment, you are just being a d!ck. I don't love TX and I'm not from here but every state has it pros and cons.
The job market is atrocious right now and the foreseeable future! It’s very difficult to get an interview and the process is not like before where experience and referrals mattered.
With all the mergers and consolidation less companies and a ton of exceptional talent out there looking for jobs.
Hang in there. Chevron can’t grow organically so more purchases are needed to keep RRR. Reorganizing is a given in the next 36 months. Work, save, and prepare for a challenging time ahead.
@bb
yup
some places are just cr-p
people are probably better in tx than ca
but the climate in ca sadly is MUCH better
The decision is different for everyone. Are you planning to work there or retire there? Are you career oriented or a do-nothing slacker and time-milker? Many high level career people move multiple times throughout their lives and don't do it based on housing prices or how perfect and picture book their surroundings are. Housing prices rise and fall everywhere and there are many places better than Cal and worse than Houston. No one's asking you to live there permanently.
The other main concern is that if you move to Houston you will never be able to return to CA. Also, when you walk outside the door each morning, you’re in TX - enough said…
Lots of Californians hang on to their CA house and just get an apt in Houston. It's easy enough to grab a flight back and forth a couple times per month.
If you are relocating to Houston, it is the energy hub of the world. 30 years career across multiple companies and all the time based in Houston.
I have moved 7 times with Chevron. You should look for a different industry if you are not mobile.
