@m8+1k95946ar You are behind the times, "old man". There is no need to treat a woman differently than a man. Would you "manage their emotions" if the boss would be a man? Nope. So don't do it when is a woman. If she doesn't like it, take the road Jane! Women use their tears and emotions as leverage against men.

I worked with female bosses before, and some can be a PITA. You keep it professional all the time, limit your interactions, and provide NO HELP. You make sure to have all the communications in WRITING, to avoid being thrown under the bus. Also, forget about bonuses and promotions. Just reduce your output to an stable level, and avoid troubled projects. Say NO more frequently with a female boos than with a man. Understand that a toxic boss is worse when is a woman, so make sure you cover your own @ss...

Just wait until she gets "rotated" to another team, or wait until the next reorg. Trying to find another team may prove hard if she blocks you. And toxic female bosses see "moving to another team" as treason. So she will try to push you to quit.

The stress isn’t just from the workload. It’s from dealing with a boss who causes chaos and then acts hurt when people start breaking down. She says “we all need to learn” while standing on buried bodies. It’s wild how someone can create so much damage and still see themselves as the victim.

After a while it starts to wear you down. You’re constantly managing her emotions, trying not to set her off, pretending things are fine so she doesn’t spiral again. That kind of stress doesn’t go away when you leave the office. It sticks with you, and you start realizing it’s not just a bad culture it’s bad for your health.

USA, land of the free, yet people seem forced to get up and go work at this place every day. Might as well move to Russia, at least there you get a daily shot of vodka.

People looked sad in the halls of Ford today, anyone have any ideas for some levity? Anything we can do to liven things up for everyone?

Engineers are often treated as disposable in the automotive industry, reflecting a deeply flawed workplace culture. The most troubling aspect is that the U.S. government seems indifferent as long as profits continue flowing to the top one percent. When crises hit, it’s the middle class that ends up footing the bill to bail out the wealthy elite.

@ALL my fellows Ford employees...

There is a joke, that like all of them, has some interesting truth in it...

A guy owned the neighbor some money, but he could not sleep because he knew he would not be able to repay it in the agreed date. The wife, exasperated after all the tossings, asked the husband why he couldn't sleep. After listening to him, she opened the windows and shout very loud towards the neighbor's house: "My husband doesn't have the money to repay your loan".

After she closed the window, the husband asked the wife why she did that. She smiled, and said: "now that he knows you cannot repay the debt, you can sleep. The one that would be unable to sleep is the neighbor."

Maybe not such a "funny" joke, but is perfect for working at Ford. Many employees are stressed out due to the crazy deadlines, overworked by the redoing of projects due to managers' changes, feeling stretched out due to lack of employees... when is NOT your responsibility. Managers make the big bucks, managers are the ones that should face the responsibility.

@OP is right. Health is wealth. Working is just a business transaction. You get paid for 40 hours, so why work 80? The project received last minute changes, the project gets delayed. Managers may not like it, but they are UNABLE to do our jobs. So they may poof and blow, but no house is going down. Plus, no need to make up lies for the failures... your managers will do that for you. Remember, whatever you make at Ford, your managers make more. They have more to lose than you.

Just don't wait until the last minute to say you cannot meet the deadlines. Make sure you inform your manager in writing of the delays, and believe me, your manager will find the way of getting more people, hiring Agency contractors, or extending the deadline.

So work your 40 hours, and enjoy the rest, because health should not be traded with money.

Good luck!

Ford, like any other automaker is pointlessly competitive where it doesn't need to be (in the area of trying to avoid work and a$$ kiss). It would be something if it was competitive in the sense that everyone was trying to over perform. Unfortunately that "over performance" comes by way of kissing a$$, pushing back on work they know they have to do, and downright being rude. The stress that you put on someone in the direction of losing their job only gets you so far. If you only want 2-3 good years out of the person then I guess you've met your metric. You also gained a reputation on being a $hitty place to work but if that's what you're going for...

@az It’s really important to address these kinds of issues before they start affecting your physical health. A lot of people don’t realize that there are safe, effective medications available that can help numb stress and emotional strain. They can work wonders. Just a word of caution, be mindful of those that can be addictive, and definitely avoid mixing those ones with alcohol.

In a similar boat as @a7. I have not gotten laid off or quit but I am young and having to go to the cardiologist because of all the stress.

Just saw that another talented non DEI engineer left Ford for greener pastures. Good for him. He was going no where at Ford.

It's no longer Ford Motor company it used to be. Most talents are in different fields now, so expect cheesy vehicles packed with recalls to eye-ba.lls to last max 3- 5 years like Apple phones.

This is so true! Last 3 years have been terrible experience of my career. Got the worst LL5s who lacked not just skills required for the job but also basic decency. I got laid off few months ago and immediately got another job. While I got lucky to join a company that has much wiser people, I also am making rounds to my Cardiologist office. The stress that the so called leaders have given me all these years has taken a toll on my health. Please make sure you understand the impact of corporate stress. It is not a joke! Take your health seriously. Prepare for another job ahead of time, build your network that can help you land another job. Ford is not worth this much tension.
