One person is so hurt by this they took time to respond to everybody on the thread. Maybe take a second to think if this many people are complaining that there could be so some legitimacy to their claims
Diversity matters. Governance matters just as much.
At Nike, DEI goals were pursued with urgency but without sufficient structure. Traditional hiring and promotion processes were sidelined. Decisions were concentrated. Oversight weakened. When power moves faster than accountability, bad outcomes follow, Regardless of intent.
This isn’t about race vs. race. It’s about what happens when organizations confuse representation with immunity, and urgency with exemption from process.
Many employees, across races and identities, paid the price.
The EEOC investigation deserves to be taken seriously, not dismissed as political. The real question is whether companies can hold everyone to the same ethical and professional standards, especially when the stakes are high.
@ck Please provide data. Im excited to learn you moonlight as a lawyer. You’re soooooooooooooooo talented clearly . I love to be in the presence of greatness. I’m so lucky.
@db Please do us all a favor and resign to save everyone the burden of dealing with your ridiculousness. Trust me, the company is clearly better without you.
@bf You probably su-k at your job and you know there are people around you who are far superior to you. The only way you can rationalize this in your head is to assume they are getting some special privilege that you are not getting. It’s not true. The truth is you are probably not very good at your job. Accept it. Stop blaming DEI for the fact you are mediocre. I sincerely feel sorry for you but not because you’re not given a fair shot, it’s because everyone made things too easy for you because of your (white) privilege and you’ve never had to actually try before. Sad. Be better. It’ll be amazing what you can do if you actually had to try for once!
@cx Can you prove women or even more specifically white women are doing better than white men at NIKE right now? I’d love to see your data.
@ak Let me guess… you are a white man? What exactly did you do to help save the brand?
@db Head of footwear is a…white man…right?
@b3 You are so ignorant. The data does not support this at all.
@b9 @av The truth is you probably just really su-k at your job. You want to pretend like race or gender or some other factor is at fault for your lack of success but it’s simply not true. The truth is you’re not actually that good at your job and when someone took away your training wheels you fell down for the first time. Learn to pedal, be better, and stop su-king then maybe you’ll succeed in a playing field that’s actually even.
All you mediocre white men should stfu. You’re the majority of NIKE and have always been the majority of NIKE and all our financial woes can directly be tied back to you. Thank YOU white men for tanking the company. This is a performative witch hunt and nothing more.
When the head of footwear in a town hall says he is prioritizing the hiring of black women ….. there’s probably fire …
The EEOC needs to take a look at Nike Air MI in Missouri.
I’m going to leave this here -
Former Diversity Program Manager at Facebook and Nike Sentenced to Federal Prison for $5 Million Fraud
https://www.justice.gov/usao-ndga/pr/former-diversity-program-manager-facebook-and-nike-sentenced-federal-prison-5-million
Aggressively swept under the rug. BFS and DEI was everywhere, until it wasn’t.
Don't worry. After Nike shows that main beneficiaries of DEI were white women this investigation will go away.
People on reddit and such are acting like this lawsuits claim is ridiculous when it's obvious the policies do discriminate against white people and are likely illegal under civil rights era law.
Like, I'm not saying white people are put upon or discriminated against generally in society. But it's obvious these DEI policies were discriminatory under the letter of the law.
Hiring bases off demographics should be illegal. Full stop.
Which companies?
You must be in the know on both what was shared, what wasn’t, and the credentials and hiring practices of this federal organization. Seems like an odd overlapping base of knowledge.
Do these other companies pay their execs less if they hire white males?
What do you mean “look at the person”? Like her skin color? Sounds racist to me.
If this was such a great policy, why wouldn’t we be more open about it? Why would we let this stay in the news cycle throughout multiple trading days if there wasn’t something to hide? Why not make this a tout of differentiation in how our wokeness is leading the way.
No. Instead, Nike is hiding this behind lawyers and is going to feign unruly persecution by (looks it up) oh-no, a fashy! A fashy that is simply upholding the law.
Plain and simple. Execs at Nike will be compensated less if they hire, promote, or retain white people. There are financial incentives paid as bonuses (under Planet and People) for increasing the percentage of non white females within their organization. This is publicly available in SEC filings.
Other companies have DEI policies. And they are not being attacked (your word) by the administration. Having a DEI policy. Training. Education. And Employee Resource Groups. Is one thing.
Specifically excluding one group based on gender or racial orientation to the point that you bonus your leaders on it… is altogether different.
Oh, also; how’s business?
It’s about time. As someone who was blatantly impacted by this, I hope Nike goes down in flames.
No, Nike complied to the letter of the law, this is just a political attack on companies with DEI practices and it's disgusting. Look at the person who raised the charges in 2024 and how they got promoted to chair by the fashy orange. There is a clear pattern of we-ponizing yet another arm of the government for their political agenda of white supremecy.
The reason this made the news now is because the fed had to subpoena Nike, as Nike failed to provide previously requested documentation.
If there wasn’t anything to hide, why not provide what was requested?
If our DEI policy of providing increased financial rewards to execs for hiring and promoting women and minorities was something to celebrate… wouldn’t Nike simply hand over the data?
If it wasn’t wrong… wouldn’t Nike simply give the requested info?
Does this not demonstrate at least some degree of guilt admission?
I love how our DEI policy is touted internally. But as soon as the fed comes knocking, we can’t hand over anything.
I was impacted by this and have contacted the EEOC. It's be blatant haven't even tried to hide it.
Finally, anyone with eyes could tell you this was happening. There seems to be a big push to hire people from other countries - being a citizen feels like a disadvantage for those trying to get hired. The racist HR gatekeepers isn't helping.
It will be interesting to see how this investigation unfolds. There should definitely be enough evidence to have legs.
The EEOC should dig deep and contact former employees, there are lots of truths to be told out there.
Been hoping for this. I’m tired of the race and s-x based groups. Why can’t the groups be based on sports or interests?
Sheesh, about time…
