Thread regarding Meg Energy Corp. layoffs

It has begun

I heard a rumor the layoffs have begun.
I hope it's not true. If it is true, I'm very sorry to those affected.
It's astounding they (Cenovus/Meg) were planning this in advanced, and couldn't at least have the decency to wait until after Christmas but I guess the C Suite want their bonuses.

Oh I will keep believing it. It's a great feeling to have knowing the boss want's to offshore my job but can't. Not only that, he's forced to pay me a much higher salary.
It hope that affects his bonus. It puts a smile on my face.
I think you've meet people like me before and we don't like you either.
Have a nice day :)

Cenovus won't "onboard" anyone on January 1st they don't plan to keep for at least 6 months... so you can expect the worst in December. They'll only keep those who they really need.

@c8 not sure where you got your information. Executives resigned yesterday after the close. Layoffs today were in various teams and various levels, all Calgary based. Will know more on Monday. Second round in Dec.

Mostly execs and senior leaders let go today. The big round for the worker bees is early December.

They’ve definitely been laying people off already, unfortunate timing and pretty savage the day after owning the company. No respect.

Dr-g Dealers are also trying to run a business, yet we punish them since they are a net negative to society. Have to wonder if the folks running Meg/Cenovus are not much better.
Seems like you share similar values people running these companies. What goes around, comes around.
BTW, my rate went up this year. My skills are in very high demand and you have no choice but to pay me. Folks like you are the reason I charge a very high rate and laugh all the way to the bank.

Why should they wait because of some random date/holiday? They are trying to run a business. Looking forward to good things. Enjoy your severance.
