Is this a ploy to encourage people to quit? Where are we supposed to sit when we badge in a building but not at our center of gravity?
Been a madhouse in the building I'm in since yesterday with these cube claims.

@1fw Is this the reason behind the inclusion of a gravitron in the new WHQ?
@158 The center of gravity shifts depending on the location of the fat women. It usually tends to be centered near the cafeteria. Some engineers have even studied it as a pet project; it’s quite interesting.
@dm ford talked about this no assigned desk strategy for years. Hardly designed to get people to quit. As for RTP, of course working at him is preferred by workers. Of course working in the office also works as evidenced by decades of just that. Unfortunately, many abused work from home in many ways so, no more.
Yes, it is.
@f5 how’s parking?
@ac recently moved to PDC and we have assigned desks. We were allowed to choose within our assigned area, and the desks have name tags.
Ok Dilbert.
Its a decision that doesn’t touch productivity - which despite what they say is impossible to measure. Its part of a business decision to attrition you out if you don't like it. That is the only reason. Dont belive the boomer nonsense of being present at a building = work gets done. Everyone knows how much it doesn't make sense.
@b8 Let’s start with equal treatment (not equitable), you know, let merit reign again….
It’s coming no matter what we do. It’s nonsense to blame employee work habits on any of the RTO policies. They’re obviously due to other factors. The message that, “if YOU did x, RTO wouldn’t be necessary” being pushed by upper management is turning employees against each other. Don’t take the bait.
@b4 Hey, elevators #2 & 3 are getting reworked, relax. Soon you'll be transitioning to the penthouse being constructed on the 4th floor. The ping pong, pool table, gym, latte machine and private rooms are back.
Maybe you can move the couch to the elevator waiting area, we hear the wait time is significant.
Maybe you can use all that training and apply some statistics to your avg wait time ! Use the 5-Why analogy to the situation, don't come on here and just make outlandish claims about facilities modernizing your area without any scientific proof. Use your PE for heavens sakes.
This is great news, as long as I'm not assigned a desk next to some weirdo allowed to continue 'monitoring' me!
@b4 @OP My "WFH" coworker is here for a visit every other month = He needs a desk!!!
Will he be required to come in, since facilities made the Capital Investment (CapX) on his work area and so close to the COG? Will the WFH Covid agreement still be in place now that we have new asphalt and painted yellow lines in the parking lot?
At what point will employees experience consistent and equitable treatment — and how will organizational accountability be ensured? One person finds it necessary to swipe the turn style badge four times per week, while the counterpart needs to turn over and press the power button to appear awake.
Su-king up to the boss has all kinds of dividends. For all you younger folks, here's some advice - su-king a$$ does payoff !
Took out all the useless couches and tables and chairs in open space to replace with sit stand desks and dual monitors everywhere. What happened to Ford Lands prediction for the new way of working and collaborating? Oh they didn’t realize that engineers don’t sit on couches sipping lattes like our marketing guru now CEO. Engineers need space to work on technical projects.
Adding a significant number of desks to building 2 but still not officially assigned desks. But many desks are “claimed”.
I welcome having a desk again! Is this confirmed?
What a mess. Just lay people off if that’s the goal. RTO with no assigned desks and far too few desks, parking spaces and conference rooms is not going to “improve collaboration and productivity.” It’s likely to do the opposite just by frustrating everyone.
If you're anywhere near the new WHQ, it's about to get busier, especially the parking spaces. The residents at the Glass House are getting moved out to there.
Where did you hear about assigned desks returning?
You all clamored for this. Congratulations. Plus this will make it easier for the 5 day a week RTO. "But we gave you your own desk!"
You're stupid people.
