Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

8 hours a day RTO across the industry

I took a look at the layoff boards for other banks. They've been complaining about the same things we do about RTO. It's not just us.

During the pandemic people had a choice to even take time off, employers took advantage of remote working and even asked teams to do insane hours which resulted in historic gains specially for the companies now forcing RTO. It is a lame excuse to fire the same people that helped corporate America to stay at float during the crisis.

I think 8 per day is just about right

I've heard senior managers use the excuse "Well, Chase forces people in 5 days a week." - Which isn't completely true in of itself, but even if it were... What they're really saying is "See we're not completely sh---y, just 3/4 sh---y."

@b3 People like you who come on boards like this to bootlick are so funny. Do you think Scharf is going to see your anonymous posts on here and reward you? When the working environment is made deliberately worse to encourage attrition, all of us pay the price. You're not special, no one's going to see you as a hard worker and protect you, the layoff machine is coming for all of us sooner or later. The least we can hope for is for the workplace not to completely enshittify before then.

@e7 Referring to the 8 hour requirement, not the number of days. Does your wife have a mandated number of hours to be in the office at BofA?

This is very manager specific. Sorry if you have a crummy manager. I once had a guy tell me I had to tuck in a no tuck shirt in the office. My boss.said that guy's on a power trip, Ignore him. I did. If your manager is that guy, go to another team.

My wife works at B of A and she goes into the office 4 days a week. She says it’s mostly a LoB thing currently but there is talk about making it company-wide. Just FYI

BofA is not doing this from what I hear.

There is no policy on in office hours - there is no report other than the existing one which reports days in the office. Some troll spent the entire weekend making this up - congrats on having no life.

@b3

Your failure to understand is not my problem.

I reject your "advice". I refuse to leave and I refuse to RTO.

Find a way to live with it. Worry about your own productivity, bootlicker.

I don’t understand. You don’t have to work at Wells Fargo. If you don’t like it - find something else where you don’t have to work 8 hours a day. I hope they enforce this. So many people in Finance dont even come close to 5 hours a day or the 3 days a week.

Not true. I know a number of people at Citi working 2 days p/week. Also know people in BAML that don’t go in at all. Enforcement is very dependent on role/department. Even a number of people at GS and JPM I know are working in the office 3-4 days p/week. Not 5 like that sc-mbag Dimon likes to imply.

OP posts this every once in a while and then acts coy about why.

It’s not just to get you to resign. These companies want to be the first and last thing in your mind so you stay a wage slave. During Covid and wfh people reconnected with their families and reshifted priorities. Commute time was gone and families spent more time together. It made it easier to walk away from a job that didn’t give you much connection.
