Thread regarding USAA layoffs

Why was Building D added in Plano?

Seems weird that with people getting laid off, they open up a brand new facility with hardly anyone there. Mostly Fraud and AML from what I've heard

Buildings A and C have a ton of empty seats.

People from Building B were moved to Building D, and now that building is empty

They have created a new cafeteria, mini-golf, and other amenities with Building D.

@dq I think yall with the down votes need to re-read this. This poster is calling us all Americans and calling the poster before an id--t for singling out employees from “Mumbai” .

I thought this too. First read the email as this is where your new cages are.

there are a ton of empty desks in Buildings A,B, and C. This makes absolutely no sense to get a new building when the other buildings already lack people for said desks.

@b3 wake up idi*t , many Americans are from Mumbai just like the land grabbers in North America were from Ireland and Spanish colonial overflow.

Just think, when you or your co worker is laid off with 1/2 the amount of severance and in 2026 healthcare premiums skyrocket and coverage decrease, we can look at that break room, we can look at the ugly blue chair in that conference, we can look at the ugly paint, wink, smile and be like, yes that’s a fair trade.

Everything about USAA’s decisions relative to our leases and real estate purchases and facelifts are weird at best. The priorities around here…

Millions on leases and monitors. No employees to use them and sh-t software.

That building was leased by us back before COVID. It sat empty all these years but we were still paying for it. They didn’t want to spend the money updating it and securing it since COVID-era and post-COVID-era attendance was so poor. I don’t think they need 4 buildings. Lots of money spent on real estate that can go to employees, benefits, etc.

It's so weird - I got moved there and there's almost no one there. It's all cubicles and you have your own desk, which is nice. It's also more quiet than other buildings, but that's because there are barely people there.

It looks extremely fancy, but I don't think the building was needed - definitely a huge waste of money while they lay people off

@b2 what’s negative about this comment? It’s the actual answer- the hotel seating IS annoying AF if you work here daily .

@OP I had thought Plano was mostly IT and Charlotte was mostly AML Fraud?

That being said, they are adding / renovating non-stop. Layoffs paying for the tax breaks?

Plano? Is the office up there all Mumbai or any Americans around?

Plano is considered the tech hub and we were running out of space with people taking each others seats and an obnoxious hotel “no assigned seating” situation being common
