Thread regarding Ford layoffs

move if you want to change groups?

Have been told nobody can move b/c hiring freeze and no backfills but have not asked for move directly either.

@b0 agree! All my moves came about as I just made sure to be helpful to people on other teams when they needed assistance to do their jobs. Then I kept my mouth shut about having helped out. Later when their teams had openings they would recommend me for the positions.

I picked up the model e banter pro and against …. Got a good laugh … 😂. Appreciated both the serious and humorous comments. Thanks all…

OP - This guy seems to have a vested interest in ruining your career. But I think by now we all know to ignore him. Model e will be dissolved and taken up into the manufacturing organization. The fluff and tech SV heavy hires will be trimmed.

It helps to know someone in another group. You really need to network even within ford. Depending on the group/manager they could transfer you in a few days. But most of the time you need to apply internally and interview. And those interviews tend to be official so the usual boilerplate questions. I once interviewed for a similar role in another group and didn't get hired. Says more about my interview skills I guess

I would move to Model e if you aren't already there. Best division in Ford to work. Fact.

I really don't get these posts. Ford has very little internal opportunities. They give the illusion that they are available. But if you are at the stage of wanting what is essentially a different job. What's so special about Ford? Why not consider a real change and start somewhere else? It's basically useless to switch internally at Ford unless it's highly subsidized and supported AND encouraged by both the group you're moving from and to. Otherwise really, why waste the effort? Managers get butt hurt, you're still at Ford....why would you want that? Oh...and it is overall typically a pain process wise or can be.
