I got cut and I’m super upset. I was recognized numerous times and was a top performer… and truth be told, I REALLY loved my job and what I did. Loved my market team. Just truly su-ks.. I know cuts are still being made… the way they did this RIF was so unprofessional and unhealthy. I’ve been sick since last week stressing about everything! Hopefully the future holds something better! Good luck everyone!

Guys its Verizon’s loss. i was cut from GN&T, it was a 50% cut in my group.
@az - Yes...But as part of the reorg TriSt-WBV are merging and that means duplicate SDs (3) and EVP (1) are impacted
Regardless of why, best wishes to all of you.
@az Unfortunately, Network Engineering's focus has historically been all about "span of control" to justify titles. Typically, they will move people around to justify titles. Funny thing is, I've seen ADs and Directors with only 1 - 3 people reporting to them; you know something is amiss / afoul when you see that.
GNT in tx, 1 b6 and 2 b7 engineers cut.
Good luck everyone.
@ay just 1 AD? I thought they were reducing the levels of managers? GNT has way too many ADs and PEs… this is so surprising
@an yes TriSt lost one AD
In engineering there are a ton of contractors. They all seem safe for now. Feel like each group was given a reduction of 2 or more employees…. If your team is mostly contractors, then it affects the employees in the team. Seems like some groups cut the people with less seniority no matter if they were top performers or not. Crazy to hear of all the org changes and questioning how there still seems to be so many ADs and PEs that didn’t get cut.
@a7 Adding on to my last post - Another thing to think about for Engineering - it's workforce has been cut year after year and the only people left are high-performers and super SMEs so....it was already "down to the bone". We're getting into "marrow" territory unfortunately.
@a7 I seriously doubt that it was "random". Been with the company for 30 years and have had to make the decision on who to let go too many times to mention and it was never "random". It was always a sobering and tough decision, but it was always about who was adding the least value in their role / job. Although the decision was hard every single time, I could sleep with a clear conscious that the decision was based purely on performance / contribution / need. Also it was much easier when people volunteered.
GNT 12 years. Stellar reviews. No write ups. For years I’ve taken the responsibility of others who left or teams have been dissolved. I’m relieved but questioning what I could have done better.
Thankful I wasn’t able to use any vacation time this year as that will be paid out.
The guy that does heroine is still in south lake though so I guess I should have done that
38 yrs old... they got rid of all 3 of us in the area I'm in. 6 gone out of 11 under my manager! We were already spread thin...
@aa GN&T = "Global Network and Technology"
GNT planning here, 19 years in the company, got the call early this morning
GN&T- 56 y.o., 38 yrs service and impeccable record. Shocked! Best wishes everyone! We GOT THIS!!!
@am anyone hear if any ADs in GNT? Tristate or WBV?
We lost 3 out of 12 in our group. None for performance reasons.
Tristate GNT was hit hard. My team lost 2 of 8.
@a5 mid 40s
@ad my AD called me at like 8:05am. Dreaded seeing his name pop up on my phone.
26 years 8 months 23 days.. promised I was safe, straight up until yesterday. Call invite at 8:55a, cut at 9:15a. I hope the higher ups get exactly what they are looking for, chaos. Best of luck to you and try to enjoy your holiday~
So sorry to hear this. All the best to you.
God bless you and your family. I'm sorry this happened to you. good luck to all the people let go.
@a8 How was the invite? Meeting invite last min? Your phone rang with no meeting invite?
This happened to me in 2018 Don't worry. i got the severance money, collected unemployment, and then 6 months later they called me back as a contractor I've been back at Verizon since then. Just enjoy your paid vacation. Stay cool!
Sorry to hear..Wish you and family all the best…
What is GN&T?
Just got whacked. 48yo, 25th year. GN&T. Su-ks bad.
Yep Network engineer in GN&T, just got cut
Do not take it personal. Performance does not determine the outcome, nor do your Managers. This is very randomized by a third party to avoid lawsuits.
GNT SE here also cut today
Do you mind sharing your age ? I’m shocked if you were a top performer why they would select you. Salary or age ??
I'm so sorry. Sending you double hugs and praying that you are able receive a severance that relieves any immediate financial pressures.
You got this!
I was also just let go from GN&T. Seems like we took a big hit.
Best of luck moving forward. Sorry to hear about it. The last week has really su-ked and they have done this extremely unprofessionally. To the point that even if I don't get cut, I may be looking elsewhere sometime soon. The culture at VZ is gone.
Sorry to hear that! You have talent and it’s Verizon’s loss
