Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Are the rest of us safe?

My group took a hit today, and now I’m trying to figure out if those of us left standing are in the clear. I doubt they’d split cuts within the same team across multiple days, but no one has said anything official yet, so I’m guessing like everyone else.

We were told in Workplace we were safe. We have a call today with Senior Director. I heard a rumor that a Senior Level KAM could bump a lower KAM out though

And let me clarify...I worked there for 34 years. My husband almost 20. I took the vrp last year. This lack of compassion is disgusting.

My husband worked at pepsi gtm and was disabled 6 years ago with early onset alzheimers...at 48 YEARS OLD! I also worked at the same plant and was offered the vrp and took it for obvious reasons. To this day I'm still getting phone calls from employees who are not getting paid correctly. Not only that but after 34 years not one of this fellow employees called to ask how this devastating disease has taken a toll on our lives. My husband will be going to a nursing home in January. I abhor pepsico, it's employees and its products. Ps I processed payroll for years with accuracy and precision. Now it's up to managers who have no clue what they are done, hence inaccurate pay

@dc when I say happy I mean that you are safe as of now and not that your team was cut.

@OP I’m happy to hear that. What section of the company do you work in?

@as good point they said they are testing integrated food and beverage supply chain in Texas.

Even if they do that, next step is cutting half each sales team.

And not sure if will work...if doesn't they have no choice but re franchise

@ac Ramon said that “full refranchising” is not an option that is being explored right now

@OP Are you safe today? Possibly but know if your team was targeted it will be subject to future cuts. As another responded, this is just another in a long line of cuts and more are coming

Press release and all the articles said supply chain and GTM review is coming by end 2026.

That probably means

  • re franchise bottling
  • that gets rid of both bottling plants and associated delivery fleets
  • combine sales where possible and cut both retail and foodservice/away from home coverage

One can appreciate the philosophy the answer "you are never safe" etc. However, we all know that @op meant if this round of layoff is over for now. Let's keep this site and post for some useful information.

Nowhere is safe in this economy but in over 7 years with PepsiCo my conclusion is this company is one of the most unstable I’ve ever been associated with. And unlike some that made cuts for somewhat plausible reasons - like industry downturns, natural disasters etc, with PepsiCo it’s their approach to prosperity: cover up for blatant mismanagement by senior leadership by slashing rank and file workers. Horrible business model.

@OP you’re never safe as long as you work for PEP. This has been the way for the last 10+ years.
