Is anyone else feeling vibes from their old and newly hired “younger” coworkers suggesting that they should be retiring soon? Yes I was offered VERP but I’m nowhere near retirement age. Now that I am clearly the oldest person in my group, the atmosphere feels off and it's making me uncomfortable. I’m starting to wonder if I made a mistake not taking it

They offered the VERP and hired older workers age 50+ . Some of these individuals were laid off from other companies due to VERP. The company is failing due to operational errors .

They were not getting rid of people for ageism. It’s a business they like at ways to reduce workforce and they aren’t done transitioning work to Accenture or other vendors. There are other vendors like Deloitte. They are trimming still. So they used certain criteria to reduce staff but the end goal was to reduce cost. They did care about your age or who you are. It’s strictly business. Always look out for what’s best for you because the company only cares about bottom line not even the customers are first. The board and bottom line are first.

Took the VERP and don’t regret it at all. Sleep later, go to the gym, and overall a healthier lifestyle.
I just missed the VERP cutoff which was disappointing. While it has some risk, you could tell your leadership about your feeling, and it's possible they could make a special case for you to give another package opportunity. Seems crbg is still quite interested in eliminating positions without the public disclosure, esp for us more expensive older folks. Downside is that you send a message you are willing to depart which never looks good. Just a thought.
