Thread regarding TIAA (TIAA-CREF) layoffs

Coffee badge reporting

Just like the other poster who reported a coffee badging colleague, I think it’s all our duty to do this. Coffee badging is a business code of conduct violation, as evidenced by the recent Code of Conduct training and the article about being deceptive about working time and location using a mouse jiggler. You can anonymously report the coffee badging activity using the Speak Up or ethics hotline I believe. I haven’t done this since I haven’t seen anyone do it myself in person, but I think that guy who reported his colleague, didn’t do anything wrong. In fact, it is in line with the TIAA code of conduct to report an ethics violation. If HR does anything about it, that’s up to them. But technically it is our duty as employees to report this type of behavior.

@a7 HIPAA…?
Shouldn’t have to tell HR shyt for being tattled on by another employee who has nothing better to do but report people. Do your job and leave. You don’t ow this company a damn thing when they can fire you on the spot without cause. OP and you are stupid bootlickers.

How about everyone go back 5 days just like the Wealth AAs?? That would solve it. Oh no wait, that job is beneath every other role so nah.

I hate the nanny state here as much as the next person, and also think we can do the same job at home. However, these so called “coffee badgers” will never be satisfied with following polices and no matter what company they are at, it seems they will always skirt the rules.

And knowing this could have a negative impact for all employees as whole, yet still doing it - really just shows they aren’t good people to work with. The quicker they all find different places to work, the better. Even though they don’t seem to have any other options or they wouldn’t be here. Saying no one has transferable skills and they do - well, you work here so aren’t you referring to yourself as well? Seems silly and childish, and I’m not even a “bOomEr.”

TIAA pays my bills, stuff my 401k and pensions, pays for my certs and masters, and I have a fun life outside the company. Three days in office isn’t a big deal. And let’s not forget almost EVERY competitor in the industry has the same or tighter hybrid approach to remote work. I work 40 and that’s it. Still get promotions and pay bumps and never considered my 5x8 to be the “bare minimum.” The corporate world is full of toxic management, but not letting it get to you takes grit. Which many of you don’t seem to have in the slightest.

TL:DR
In-office work su-ks , but grow up.

@a7

If they are in any violation, they report up thru a leadership chain, in charge of managing things like this.

Not you. You don't have "busybody snitch" anywhere in your job description.

I’d make sure my own house was clean before I worried about coffee badging. Karma is a B.

The rules should be consistently enforced by management (without side deals and exceptions). Our job is to be in compliance, not reporting others who we believe aren't.

@a2 if these edge cases happen, then they should be able to provide Proof to H-R that they weren’t coffee badging . I think reporting should only happen if the behavior occurs repeatedly and the reporter is sure . I certainly would not report if I saw someone leaving after logging on one time . but repeatedly . over and over . they can always provide proof and argue they’re case to H-R if they weren’t being deceptive .

@OP … What about the situation where someone goes to the office does some work leaves after an hour for a Dr appointment or DMV or whatever and comes back to the office. Or goes to the onsite Gym (takes a walk on campus, goes to the Health facilities for therapy physical or mental or other services) that is acceptable during business hours as long as they work after it…

I know plenty of folks that got to their desk. Worked some then moved to a different desk in a different floor or building and took their stuff since they weren’t going back to that desk.

You are opening a can of worms that doesn’t need to be touched and could get good hardworking people warning or worse fired for being a disgruntled employee since you think they get away with coffee badging. I mean unless you follow them to their car and back to their house then you have no proof or reason to do such a thing.
