Internal hire

For those who have moved jobs internally, did the recruiter reach out to coordinate an interview with the hiring manager or did the hiring manager reach out directly to you? Also how long did it take to hear that you made it to the next round after your initial HR screening. Thanks!

It's all coordinated by the recruiter. I played pawn once in an internal interview for the next role up so we could pretend to consider an actual real American for a job. The manager passed on me saying I didn't know Java well enough despite coding in it for near a decade & delivering projects for the bank. He did the needful, of course, & that's how one of them stole my $150k.

Tldr - the whole process is coordinated with the HR rep & your current leadership never knows until they have to approve (we didn't get that far, I just know).

I know for a fact that in risk management, if you don’t have Bank of America, Chase, Citibank, or Wells Fargo on your resume they won’t bother with you. It’s the delusional concept of “upskilling”!

Idk why someone is down voting my response. If yours is different that's fine. I'm not saying my experience is the end all be all, but it's been pretty consistent through every interview process I've gone through at this place. So 🤷🏼‍♀️

@av thank you! I had a screening call on Tuesday so hopefully this week I’ll hear something!

I haven't made it past the AI filters to a recruiter for anything I've applied for in the last 4 years. Mostly I apply out of curiosity because the job descriptions are so vague and applying and interviewing is the only way to figure out if it'd be a good fit or not.

But it's usually, you apply and a recruiter reaches out to set up a screening interview. Usually phone, no cameras (this is my own experience mind you) and asks you kind of the run of the mill first round. If you make it past that it's usually within a week you'll have your first interview with the hiring manager. My last position I had 2 formal rounds and then one less formal round with the team I was looking to join. It kinda depends on the level of the position and what the team is looking for as far as what the post recruiter steps will be.

My experience was 5 years ago so it might be different now; I spoke with a recruiter first who then set up a meeting with hiring manager. I spoke with hiring manager within a week of my meeting with recruiter.
