Vacation policy updated effective 1/1/26. Xerox going to the dreaded unlimited* time off policy.
- Absolutely limited and now we don't have to payout unused vacation time upon severance or overworking you.
Vacation policy updated effective 1/1/26. Xerox going to the dreaded unlimited* time off policy.
U.S. employees sc--wed again. French mgrs…Americans are so sc--wed.
Good luck to everybody with this new policy. I left long ago, and always used all my vacation time. I always just told my manager when I would be gone, I never had to ask for approval. Now it's likely this follows the model in other companies where you need to beg multiple levels of management to take vacation. For those that maxed out their vacation benefits at 25 years of service, I wonder how many people will still take that time off without being labeled a slacker.
"unlimited" PTO means 0 PTO, no one should be working here anymore
@bp It went to people managers today. Going to the masses on Thursday.
"I haven't seen this communicated."
They tend to forget to communicate certain items. Like availability of lump sums...
Look at the vacation policy on the web. Is there.
Is that for "Fu-k The Office" !
If you search for 'PTO FTO' on the Xerox SharePoint, you'll see the emails that are due to be sent to people from the CPO on 10/9.
There are separate PDF versions for U.S. Xerox Employees and U.S. Lexmark Employees.
It says Lexmark already run a FTO policy.
@bn No. You'll have an unlimited number of weeks that your manager won't approve.
Is this for all of Xerox or a specific org? I haven't seen this communicated.
Will a tenured employee with six weeks vacation still have six weeks vacation?
@av PTO (paid time off) FTO (flex time off). Pto EARNED AND GUARANTEED through tenure. And pays out unused portion upon separation regardless of separation type.
Flex time is up to managers discretion. Can be denied at will for any reason. And you need at least a month's notice before taking a week off.
It's being done to avoid paying out an additional severance in q1 of 2026.
Also MANY studies have shown when companies go to "unlimited" pto/flex people use LESS paid time.
Let's say a department has 20 people total. And then a total of 100 weeks PTO is used between those 20 people in one year. That's two entire bodies they can fire next year because their time was "unjustified". All the work still got done without having those 100 weeks labor.
Call me ignorant, but what does PTO and FTO stand for?
Nobody is supposed to care for it. It's a dodge to avoid paying out PTO. It;s hard to use PTO when you are in constant fear, or already fired.
Interesting. On paper it sounds good, but from what I've heard at other companies nobody really cares for it.
You shouldn’t even be an employee at this point, need I say more.
This is all a CH11 bust out play. They bought as much stuff as they could, avoided funding the pension plan, and are positioning the company to come out of bankruptcy with the debt resettled for pennies on the dollar. Equity and Debt holders are sc--wed.
Just keep taking from the employees
Which country are they doing this in?
Yup, that's exactly what that is. A nasty labor law loophole to make the wholesale sla-ghter more cost effective.
