Why is it always on the survivors to absorb everything from the people who got cut? If there's suddenly so much extra work, maybe those people shouldn't have been let go. But there's never any real planning afterward, just an expectation that we'll do the jobs of three people, including things we have no idea how to do.

@fr the job market isn't as good as you think. Start looking but don't be surprised when you find out there isn't anything there.
@fr yeah you must go for it, jump the ship. Because you are not part of their circle. if so, you will be next in LR till they replace it their family/friend.
This is exactly what’s happening to me. My senior person’s work is mine now, but of course I’m not getting paid like they were. So stupid. Convinced me to start looking for a better job.
@as do nothing. You can also teach them incorrectly or take some unlimited PTO.
Hey - you are getting AI to help! 😉 Soon you will be obsolete as well!
I just got laid off after surviving 15 years of layoffs. I was already doing two roles in this job. After being told everything I did at Cisco was unimportant, my Director told me I have to stick around and train my replacements.
When you turn comes and you have to look for another job, you'll find most jobs demand "just an expectation that we'll do the jobs of three people, including things we have no idea how to do" so count your blessings- you're in a familiar place. Start prioritising and just babysit the low priority stuff- people don't care if you don't do them.
@OP you and your team do nothing meaningful.
The name of the game is to force people to double or triple up duties; then if issues with not completing assigned tasks, to PIP. Then you are next LR target. Enjoy. This has been the lifecycle for tens of thousands of folks before us.
