Tonight will be "fun," considering I didn't sleep at all last night, and something tells me I'm not the only one. I'm now wondering, is there even a slight chance that this will be it? That after this round, we'll be able to move on from layoffs at least for a while and focus on our work again?

Dude why you still there? This is life get used to it you’ll go thru it probably 4 or 5 more times in your life. If it happens so what. In fact I’d say you are worse off if you are one who stays. Can’t imagine living my life like this.
@as That’s not a great analogy. Tomorrow’s weather usually doesn’t turn your life upside down. So, I wouldn't worry about some rain or snow coming my way, but if I might be hit by a hurricane and might lose my home, I’d have some anxiety too. The best you can do is make sure you have enough savings in an emergency fund that can cover you after the severance runs out, have your resume and skills up to date, and always be looking for a better job no matter what. Don’t be loyal to any company because they’ll never be loyal to you, and think of a layoff as a way to get some free time to relax.
Dear colleague, it pains me to hear the anxiety in your post. You need to ask yourself “Is it in my control?” The answer for all of us here is a resounding no!! Can you change the weather for tomorrow? Do you lose sleep over that? No! Why not? because you know there is nothing you can do to influence the results. I hope you can change your perspective so that you don’t suffer, your health is too important.
If this is impacting you that much, it might be best to just look for a new job anyway. Taking action can help relieve stress. Ain't no job worth that much stress you can't sleep. Health above all.
Depends on your definition of "a while". But there's definitely many more layoff rounds between now and the end of the year.
