Why? Why is that needed? Most of those meetings are nothing but people repeating things that were said many, many times before just packaged another way. It's not like something positive or new comes of it. So what's the point, other than to keep useless people busy?

It’s because of Sapience.
It would annoy the he-l out of me when someone would use an hour for a meeting just because an hour had been booked, despite all the items on the agenda having been closed off after 15 minutes.
Most people are working from home most days of the week now. My neighbor works there, he gets a lot of work done at home, lol.
@OP well some managers just like to hear themselves talk. My manager uses it as an opportunity to show everyone how great they think they are and how useless everyone else is. And of course to show off what they're wearing (eye roll)
@ar there are so many people in Xerox who simply refresh the same slide deck and re-present it every quarter, so called ‘business specialists’ who have no idea at all what customers want, what they look like and are simply a drain on the business.
I was in some SLT reinvention meetings where 2 guys were working on a "critical initiative". For 8 months they showed the same exact slides and nobody said a word.
NO IT'S NOT!!!
We've gotta protect our phoney baloney jobs gentlemen! We must do something about this immediately! Immediately! Immediately! Harumph harumph harumph harumph!

Give SB a harumph!
Harumph!....
You watch your a$s...
@OP Many think that a day full of conference calls and a jam packed calendar is a full day of work. It's the person with little on their calendar who is actually working vs those talking about working.
