Relocation to a new place will cost spouse’s job. I am unable to land a new job despite having interviews. So RTO seems evident to save my job. Did anyone had to deal with this issue? How did you manage?

"As a 3rd level I bought a house in far University Park and rented my existing home.
My wife is licensed in Texas and practices in Dallas.
Kids love the Greenhill school and with any luck can now live home while attending SMU.
I don't understand the problem.
Just a bunch of complainers."
If you live in UP why are your kids not in public school if you are so parsimonius as to want your kids to go to SMU and live at home. This doesn't ring true to me. The schools serving UP are HPISD and considered among the best.

@g8 , FYW indeed!
As for me and my family, we will FTW.
It tells me that T wasted your time and made you nothing. Rather than wasting time in T would try get job else asap before T makes you worse.
I am cooked too. The full stack tech has changed in the industry a lot while working at T and I didn’t update myself. I will need to relocate my family facing severe financial and emotional backlash to save my job. Life is collapsing in front of me.
@ba There is no job of any value that any company right now is paying for relocation. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
@OP
" There are diverse roles to be taken advantage of. Did you apply yourself broadly, or simply waste 7 years twisting 2 wires. That sort of thing."
What an A hole
Grim & bear it.
@aq Yeah, no truth to this. Your resume is a reflection of you. What matters is the substance of what you did while you were here. There are diverse roles to be taken advantage of. Did you apply yourself broadly, or simply waste 7 years twisting 2 wires. That sort of thing.
Stankey will take you job and your marriage. Mark it down. You will move and it will destroy your marriage and you will still get laid off within 2 years. If your job had any value they would not relocate you without compensation. Enjoy being single in Dallas I guess?
Clock is ticking for me as well.. March 5 is the last day of saying yes or no. No one is calling for any job I applied.
“It’s very unfair that about 2700 IT employees still remain in non hub/virtual.”
This is an indicator of your perceived value at T. What unique skills do you possess that you feel warrant virtual status? You will find your answer in this list.
starting to realize that having AT&T on your resume is a liability
Been this way for some time so not "starting" for me. Simply waiting for retirement or a package. Either fine with me as am putting in only enough as stank isn't worth more than that.
If your spouse doesn't work for att, that seems to be the job you should keep.
Anyone else starting to realize that having AT&T on your resume is a liability? I had a career coach help with my resume as I'm in the same position. I live about 2.5 hours south of Whitacre. My wife likes her job and the kids like their school. Its selfish to let our sh!tty company dictate the life side of work-life balance.
That got me to start looking and I hired a career coach to help me with my search. Top of the list is the resume. I didn't realize how many times I used the letters "AT&T" on my resume. Then she asks me to give an honest assessment of AT&T. It su-ks. Our captain seems drunk at the helm and we care more about where we sit than what we deliver. So, I'm not proud of my company but I have it on my resume 19 times. Crazy, right? 19 opportunities for that manager to be reminded of what they don't like about our company.
I took her advise. AT&T is on my resume 1 time. Guess what? Emails are coming in. I suggest you you get a professional resume service.
Go alone, rent a room. Keep putting in applications. After a year, make a final decision.
My family was military. We were used to dad going on temporary assignments for months at a time. His last assignment was 2 yrs, driving 8hrs home every other weekend.
@ae "unfair that about 2700 IT employees still remain in non hub/virtual"
Here's 2 thoughts. If by your comment on fairness you feel the company is treating you differently, are you thinking the company will begin to treat you any better after you move? Would you be left in a better position were you to be laid off where you currently reside, or in Dallas?
I’ve been traveling between hub and non hub for over a year. Job market is terrible. Unable to move the family at this point. It’s very unfair that about 2700 IT employees still remain in non hub/virtual.
She is in IT as well.
Was in the same situation. Actively searched for a new job for 18 months but didn't have any success. Moved the family to Dallas last spring and it has been good. What line of work is your wife in?
