Thread regarding Fidelity National Information Services Inc. layoffs

How is everyone holding up after yesterday?

Yeah, it was and remains awful. Take care of yourselves first, just like the airline safety instruction. Take a couple of days to process, and make a plan that suits you best. Sending out peace and strength. If you have time to wring out everything from your benefits do it, as cr-ppy as they are.

@b5 it's hard to hear that you were impacted too. It's worrisome in so many ways to think about the cascade effect on employees. Your value is not reflected in what happened. Of course, it hurts. Please take some time to work through it. Give yourself some grace. You did not deserve this.

@OP
Im broken, hurt, confused, and angry. A lifetime of dedication and loyalty only to be pushed aside without any care or dignity. One of the guys during the call couldn't even give us his full attention it was disrespectful and disgusting behavior to treat the call like some weekly status update. The whole process has seemed to be without any real plan. Terrible communication and delivery. Giving this an F grade is to generous its a 0 from the start. Im afraid to even post this as it might someone get back.

@ap it's hardest for those directly impacted, but those who have, for the moment survived, are emotionally impacted. It's a real sh-tshow all around.

@a9 I am sorry you are going through this, there are no words to make you feel better, but I hope you have someone to debrief with over this change. This is not a small change like changing your hair color, this is a very large change, so take the time you need to process, even if this means taking a mental health day.

@a9 begin by carefully documenting via email to your manager, where you are with projects and ask for their guidance. Ask them how to direct your team with the changes announced at the meetings, be extremely detailed. This puts the onus back on them and will illustrate that you attempted to move forward under significant constraints. Make them own it. In the meantime, think about ways to support your team and each other. Make them aware of all resources such as EAP. If you do everything that you can for them, your conscience will be clear. It's a very hard path, be dignified and respectful in the office. Encourage your team to do likewise. Be leaders in that. Use your out of office time to create a new plan. Have private conversations that allow for real exchanges. This is really important, if you or anyone are feeling hopeless, in the US, you can call 988 for help. This is terribly stressful time, look out for each other.

I'm really struggling. How do I prioritize my current projects now? One of my "critical" items I was scheduled to start working on this week involves implementing a new tool for my and other teams to use, but now that seems pointless as we are all gone in 3 months. I have no idea what to do with myself and no one has any answers. I am getting frustrated with the lack of details as well, such as the severance package email that was promised within 24 hours and has yet to be received, now on the 3rd day since this happened. I am angry, confused, frustrated, and sad.

@a6 you are not wrong, it's a huge loss. So much time is spent with colleagues, even more concentrated time than with family. The camaraderie of problem solving and weathering storms at work is so valuable. Being responsible for a team focuses this feeling. Make space for them to talk about it even though there seem to be no real answers. Venting has value. Create connections outside of work with each other while you can. This can be a network for next steps. Be kind to each other, no one can ever know what another person is carrying.

Slowly gathering the impact to my teams. I can’t describe how angry I am. I’ve spent so much time getting to know my coworkers over the years. I can’t find the words to even begin to explain how I feel. I keep typing and deleting. This just isn’t right.
