Rumor is layoffs will be focused on downmarket sales, overlays, sales operations, and thinning management. But will be most significant we have seen in years

If you’re in engineering I would not be worried. Sales AVP, I’d be very worried. Sellers who focus on small companies worried. Sales ops worried. Overlays worried. Everyone else not super worried.

I know from a personal experience, Oracle loves to send one on one e-mail invite meeting during Labor Day weekend, so be aware; you have been warned

I am thinking it's just rumor, it's been circulated to down level, to get fear so that we can work more for less. Outside market is also not good.

Yes, because someone typed M7, it must be true.

Indirect confirmation is Chris moving all hands to 2nd week of October. This aligns with September 2nd starting global lay-off rounds.

You should only be concerned if you are among the bottom 20%. This is true for any company and team not just Oracle.

this is outright BS. I have seen 4 and 5 rated engineers let go regularly.

Big O always pays a severance during a RIF. That's one thing they are good about.

When it has ever happened that too for layoff?

I know we are hearing that, but does anyone have the actual terms in WRITING? I have not seen any post confirming that, people are saying they have not yet received the package.

America and India most effected according to online sources. As usual the countries with low worker rights so big O doesn't need to pay severance

@ae as of last week there were no confirmed dates for DB, but I got first-hand confirmation the DB org will be impacted by layoffs too.

So which countries may it affects?

All of them. Similar to recent AI and legacy tech stack sla-ghter.

what is M7?

Management level 7, top management basically

@ap+1k3gyzwv0

Most likely 99 percent USA as usual. The country has no worker rights so they can just lay everyone off, barely pay any severance, claim its "A.I." and then move to job to another cheaper country
