Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Morale has tanked

Most of the time when we are in the office everyone is just talking about the layoffs or speculating. Quite literally every single project we have worked on over the last 6 months has been halted, changed, changed again, and re-structured. So it’s hard to develop and close business when the target keeps moving. F*ck it. Genuinely hard to work in these types of conditions of constant fear and changes. I refuse to accept the whole “well that’s just Oracle!” Yes, changes at massive companies like this are inevitable. He-l - I used to work at another major competitor. This is not my first rodeo. But THIS level of volatility is breathtaking and staggering! I feel guilty that my productivity has slowed down, but not really.

I had this post saved and now I think it’s “morality has tanked”. People will take their morale and morals to better run countries with better mgmt.

I can only imagine how morale is now. I’m sure there are still the Botox Betties and Bowl Cut Bob saying what they said the last 15-20 years. “It’s sad but hey, at least it wasn’t us.” The thing of it is. People like them are exactly the types of Americans no one wants to be around. I didnt realize that when I was there and went through a layoff but these types of people, they’re low class, low moral, low humans that you just don’t even wanna be around. I wish I never came in contact with many of the people I met in my time in Oracle. I don’t think it’s all over tech and yes, I’ve seen common themes in other places but not at the extent it could impact so many.

There was morale? All I saw was greedy leadership who would stab anyone in their power in the back to make money and make themselves look good. The company needs to cut massive layers of mgmt. morale will increase then.

Agreed. This is probably the most true statement on this board.

I can’t honestly remember when morale was high and real and based off honest success and not the normal yes men and women bowing to their mgmt owners. We know those types.

@an Mike was the lead of the GBU I used to work for, the CEGBU. Talking to him was like talking to someone that had no human emotions. I spent time with him at a customer and it was the most awkward time I’ve ever had around someone with such power. I don’t know if he has some type of imbalance or mental situation, but he doesn’t act normal at all.

I remember when the upcoming SUNW layoff was leaked in 2017. Pretty much all work stopped for weeks. The command chain barked at us to get back to work. Few did, as everyone was busy sending out resumes and interviewing. Then the layoff hit and it was a blood bath. They gave "morale bonuses" to the survivors (which were rather small). It took quite a while for things to get back to "normal".

I get the impression that Clay is off his ti-s on dr-gs most of the time and Mike is there to cover it up.

Morale there has been low for 25 years. Worst mgmt in history and lots of yes men and women who got caught simping for paychecks who lost all their pride snd morality; if they had any. Most have little to no talent and hid for decades. The chickens will come home to roost.

They want us to pick up the slack and learn the tasks of those who were rif’d, but why bother if we’re not going to be here. I think those expecting to go are starting to mildly sabotage things with purposeful delays and minimal effort.

Oracle treats employees as a burden. Morale is irrelevant to them. They will gladly replace you with a desperate "fresher" from the subcontinent who will gladly work under these conditions.
