Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

Will there be more layoffs next week?

There’s talk about more coming on Monday, but who knows if it’s true. If anyone has solid info, please share. It’d help to know what we’re really walking into.

@an I had a friend that had been there 8 years. Got a management job they pushed her for, then eliminated that position 1 month later

@by seems like it’s a lot of employees who have been around for over a decade and are on the higher end of pay for their position

Anyone notice a pattern across those who have been laid off other than middle managers?

Have any areas been impacted subsequent days? For instance, Wednesday AND today.

I talked to my Sr. Director point blank today and he was very g-n shy about whether there would or would not be additional layoffs affecting more individual contributors. So, it wouldn't surprise me.

@af that was 100% the plan.

@av The next set of criteria is looking at salaried employees who do not work 45-50 hours a week on average from 9/2024-9/2025.

@av literally no one is going to be able to answer that question

@av How could anyone possibly answer that question with anything but speculation?

The rank and file could be next. However, after the previous riff (5 years ago), the rank and file is pretty thinned out. I dont think hcsc went on a hiring spree afterwards?

IIRC, the previous riff spared a lot of higher ups. yeah, some managers did get axed, but most who got riffed were the regular workers.

If you’re paying attention, we had a restructure earlier this year, which impacted senior leadership. This round impacted mostly middle managers. It only makes sense that another round is coming that will impact individual contributors.

It’s likely this round concludes tomorrow, but the immediate pressure is to get money off the books for the end of quarter, so some trickling until Tuesday wouldn’t be surprising.

Someone posted in another thread that the layoffs could continue though the end of the year and that no one is really being told the truth.

since FE can only carry over 2 pto days, most FE would have used their PTO up and hcsc wouldnt have to pay out PTO days for those that are riffed. its almost if that was planned that way.

Back in 2020 they had layoffs and then were going to have another round two months later. But covid happened in the middle

There is at least one more round planned for later this year.

I was told this "round" goes thru tomorrow. But nobody seems willing to say if there will be additional "rounds" or when those might happen.
