Well they got me yesterday. I was in the hospital January for a stroke, still recovering and one year away from retirement. The best they could muster was an email. I was the only person let go on my team and also the oldest at 66. The least they could’ve done was a face-to-face layoff but being the cowards they are they hid behind a computer somewhere. In all honesty, I hope they burn to the ground.

@as why take the 4 weeks? Ask for 40 weeks. If they don’t give, find some cooked up reasons and file a lawsuit saying you were discriminated against. They will come and settle with you. Trust me. As a former oracle employee, I have done it. At the end the HR was calling me every other minute and sweetening the deal. Don’t be a loser. Grow a spine. Fight back. I am telling all of you. I think you are all a bunch of whiners. Don’t whine. Instead get into action. Teach them a lesson
@as in the olden days our elders had this thing called pension!
I'm no communist but if you've given so many years to a company you should be afforded a bigger severance. For older workers it could take at least a year to find something. They should also be forced to at least provide health insurance for a year. I got a piddly 4 weeks. Safra and Larry have no souls.
The same happened to me, RIF'd at age 61 after decades with the company. Age discrimination is alive and well in Oracle-ville. Oracle is a corrupt company led by a truly wicked man.
@ah lol tell me you haven't been laid off without telling me you haven't been laid off. What an a-hole comment to make buddy.
Larry and his ppl are known for hiding behind computers and harming others, they love it and they believe it's their religious duty to do so.
people pray for this kind of layoff ! thats a gift really you should be happy
If they send an email, you claim it's rude and impersonal.
If they schedule a meeting, you claim they're reading from a script and it's a waste of time.
What do you want from them? It's a company, not your mom.
Kinda like ‘office space’ lol
@a2 Yeah, sounds like the perfect layoff
"In all honesty, I hope they burn to the ground". Oh, you are such a gentle, sensitive person! You should have been working in HR!
Isnt this better outcome ? Like you will get huge servence which will be enough until your retirement and wont work the last year ! I would take this deal anytime
@OP I forgot to mention I have been with Oracle for 30 years.
