Every layoff round seems to disproportionately affect older employees. Is the same true for this one?

@an don’t make this into something that it’s not
@am So now the H1b's would replace the laid off older employees?
Yep. All the highest paid and not coincidentally, the oldest. Half of our team gone.
A lot of older people volunteer for this. One guy from my group got it today and he was happy he got the package. He told our manager a while ago that he wanted to be on the list.
64 and gone today
@ae seems you are managing senior citizen living center
@af
depends
@a5 I wish you the best. However, you are unlikely to prevail in a lawsuit against Oracle. "At will employment". It stinks, but that's the way it is.
We had 10 out of 15 in our group let go. One 46, one 56 and the rest in their 60s. However they did retain 62, 67, 66, 68 and 58.
64 and so much more..
@a5 yes just turned 61 and let go
@a6 Yet we often hear that new hires are paid more.
The only guy from our arch group who was let go today was the oldest one.
Yep, Will be 61 later this year.
Well, I am 61 so guess close enough to that upper age echelon. I do know many well under my age that are also gone.
Others have already mentioned this. About a month after the 9/2 layoff, I received a letter from O that listed the demographics of those who were impacted, including age. The company knows the laws and covers themselves to stay within it.
Yes. It's because old people make too much money.
Yep, within a few years of age 60 here. I am hiring an attorney to discuss age-based discrimination, no WARN notification and only 10 days left of pay and benefits.
@OP
Oracle will provide a list of affected employees impacted today by age. It will be included in your severance package. Just raw numbers which can interpreted to discourage ageism litigation.
Oracle knows how to not run afoul of the law. They will lay off enough younger folks to offset the higher-paid old timers they want to get rid of.
From September RiF:
Youngest: 23
Oldest: 82
Average Age: **33**
True - Old horses are fired 1st - this has happened every time at ORCL
That's what I saw in today's layoff. 3 people, everyone over 62.
