Thread regarding Optum layoffs

I'm starting to pray to be laid off

I swear I am. I cannot take this psychological torture anymore. People are not built to carry this much stress day after day. At this point, I would almost rather be laid off. I know jobs are scarce, but I would rather stay sane and search for something else for a while than slowly lose my mind here.

@jz yea but now you will have even more years to add to the severance payout. It was either take an internal position or hit the bread line

I made it through a RIF in 2024- not sure how! I was notified that my position was going to be dissolved and I would be let go. I was made to stay and close down the department before I could leave with severance. If I was offered a position during this time and I turned it down, no matter why I turned it down, I would lose my severance. So, 2 days before my layoff was to occur, I got an offer and foolishly stayed. Here I am a year later and it’s not looking great.

search for a new role on company time, let them continue to pay you and a severance if it comes to it

That’s what they want. So people leave without severance

I don't blame anyone for wanting the RIF but March marks my 12-month anniversary since being RIFed, and I still haven't found a full-time permanent job. The market is absolutely terrible right now for healthcare/tech roles.

@b0 I’ve been here a lot longer; scored a 4 and got absolutely nothing.

I just Stopped Caring. I don’t look at emails after 6 and never on weekends. With the 401k cut, 0.5% raise, and a bonus of 2.5% my salary they are telling me I am not worth keeping. Anything under a 5% raise and 15-20% bonus is an insult to you and invitation to quit. No other major Twin Cities company pays this week. My year here is all I need to never recommend anyone to take a 30+ role at this place. Laughable comp. Revolving door of “leaders.” Zero professional development. Zero budget for continuing education.

Literally zero things done at UHG are “emergencies” that require you to think about your job outside core hours.

You are definitely not alone in that feeling. Sunday night syndrome about Monday work is already setting in and the stress stays all weekend long.
