I have a question. I was part of a reorg where my US based team will now be lead by a manager in India. A. Is this happening to anyone else? I presume this isn't promising for our future. B. My direct manager is still in the US, however the org chart doesn't show that he reports to the India manager? Is there a reason for that?

Remember that scene in terminator 2, where the T1000 emulated John Connor's voice to ask why wolfie was barking in the background?

"Your career is dead"
@dg RTO has zero to do with any of that. It's still all just about getting people to quit.
OP you probably already know the answer. HY wants US employees gone. I’m waiting for the day a high profile person gets their data stolen from that high trust country we are sending all the work to.
Have you not heard of the new world order yet lol so d-mb
@e1 It's a bit paradoxical, don't you think? There's a reason they keep getting duped.
OP I am in the same situation. Non IT. I still have an onshore manager but all of the project work I'm doing recently got reorged under an India manager. About 60-70% of the project work in his space is being done by India resources, I'm one of two US based resources still managing projects in the 30-40%. I've also been pressed quite a bit lately on project dates and winding things down when a scheduled close date is approaching, regardless of whether the work is actually done or not, even at the expense of pi----g off our sponsors. I'm assuming none of this bodes well, though truth be told I've been assuming I'm a dead man walking for several years now
A. Wow, you remind me of the Amazing Kreskin! You’re presumption is 100% accurate, there is absolutely no future for you or any of the other employees and all you need to do is read the title of your comment.
B. As always there is absolutely a reason for everything that happens! Can you guess what it may be, upcoming mentalist that you are?
RTO has ZERO to do with collaboration. It has everything to do with disconnecting with your personal life while at work and show up. They want your job to be that and they want everyone in office because they believed the lines got blurred.
So here we are. Now they are actively monitoring your laptop online activity. for most people their productivity can’t be measured by key strokes but can be measured whether you are really working when you are at the office too.
Reporting to someone in another country is part of the magic of in-person collaboration. It really justifies why we all have to be in the building!!
@a2 because this is highly relevant to layoffs?
Funny how they never displace HY executives to bring in Indians. Weird.
@b0 I would argue that day is a lot closer than anyone expects. I'm seeing systems degrade with every release. On the plus side, it's keeping me employed.
The best part of agentic development is it increases rate at which bad design iterates. A bad software engineer isn't magically going to start designing better systems just because they're prevented from writing bad programming syntax. WF's agentic pipelines are for accountability, not quality. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out when the data shows offshore breaking most systems.
I've seen this shift to offshore-led management in a few groups now.
Happened in my department. The US manager was described as a bridge between the US site and the site in India. The US manager reports to a higher up in the US not the India manager. But the India manager is said to be the head of the department.
Doesn't look good for the US folks.
If India can take over IT ... and keep the systems up and running ... WFC will move all of IT to India. But that's a big 'IF'. More than likely they will keep pushing the India agenda until everything falls apart ... major applications are down for a few days ... and the fed comes in to investigate and possibly shut the bank down. So, all we can do is wait for that day to come.
@ak It's time to replace paid trolls in red states, Russia, and Africa with AI agents.
during the latest WIM OPS TH, leadership mention they were looking to have more "Global Leadership" in roles managing....
It’s time to replace managers in CA, MN, IA, NC with those in IP.
That's going to do wonders for in-person meetings.
Not a good sign in my opinion, but nevertheless not a shock. All tech will be India regardless of what leadership says. The economics are too strong and nobody cares about the US workers anymore.
Adios gr---o. Hola india
Race blind meritocracy = total Indian domination. Don't hate the player, hate the game.
@a2
Why?
Because they are too d-mb to know any better.
We may want to consider hiring directors and VPs from India as part of transitioning away from the current local leadership team.
Probably will be getting rid of the U.S manager, he makes more than $2.00 an hour so he's costing WF too much money. There's a shareholder who needs an oceanfront condo.
@OP Why is this being asked on a Layoff site?
