Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

AT&T is building yesterday’s workplace with tomorrow’s workforce

That’s not leverage. That’s inertia. In a world moving away from office-centric work, owning 54 acres is not leverage — it’s a bet against workforce trends.

Real leverage comes from choice, not mandates

They preach RTO, but hand out WFH days as rewards….

And THAT is why tomorrow’s workforce isn’t going to be working here. Nobody wants to be chained to some damn office. Whatever BS they try to sell you is exactly that, Bullsh!t!

@ak In Slovakia they keep hybrid only for old contracts, new employees are mandated to go to the office 5 days a week like in US. They cannot change older contracts bcs of strict labor law

AT&T used to have the best talent in the country and now they will have whatever people are willing to work in these cr-ppy cities... They spend so much time looking at what other companies are doing and just implementing cr-p policies because a consultant told them thats what other companies are doing ( yes thats where RTO came from) . I am ending my Tenure on my feet, I am going to "RELOCATE" to dallas... sure I am The first day I am suppose to be reporting I'll be home smoking a Cigar... I am going to take on as much work as I possibly can and then just dissapear...No Knowledge transfer no training replacements, let AT&T figure it out. I normally don't burn bridges like this but its a special occation.. I am never going to work for them again, I will never work in Dallas so I don't really care . Severence be dammed they aren't stringing me along just to train a replacement then releasing me early once I have just because they promise some cash.

More simply said, they are building a workplace that nobody will want to be in.

Bad enough that nobody wants to be in downtown Dallas but now they are spending probably billions to create a building that simply will recreate everything that everyone hates about that building. Loud, no privacy, no space to call your own, inability to find anyone from day to day, and so on. Stank calls such a setup collaboration while everyone else calls it a place to be miserable and happy to leave.

I'll see you driving into the office on the highway. We'll have a friendly chat in the parking lot. Probably talk shop around the water cooler.

Gosh darn, RTO is the best!

Cant wait to... "See you on the commute!"

@ab you stpd fck. Go look at workday and see jobs overseas from Czech, Slovakia, UK and then India, you will see there its all hybrid. Same company offering hybrid to overseas, why? Because those are the norm in Europe and India, a strict 5 day rto would be considered hostile overseas, and yet in the US we are 5 days. Dont give me that sh-t. T offers hybrid when it benefits them.

“ see you on the commute!“

You’re still boring everyone with your lame catchphrase.

And it doesn’t even make sense….who sees anyone on a commute?

Like I tell my customers...

Call 1-800-288-2020 if you want to complain about the company.

The chat bots would love to hear your complaints about RTO and will escalate them directly to the Stank.

Probably better than complaining on here non-stop.

It was atypical to WFH before covid.

If RTO was not the industry standard, would you crybabies be on here crying 24/7 about it in every other post?

Its clear AT&T wants everyone back in the office.

Either deal with it, or find a WFH job. Good luck, those cushy WFH gigs are disappearing quickly and the applicants have a better resume than you.

Til then, see you on the commute!

Enough golfing and tennis on company time. Time to RTO.

@a5 what about all those years I worked from home before Covid?

@a5 RTO is not an industry standard. It’s not even close. Your claim is patently false and I’ll call it out as such every single time. Over 80% of companies operate in a Hybrid of WFH model. Out of all of our competitors in our industry we are the only one with a strict 5 day mandate. Why do you feel the need to come here and lie?

Surely they are using the option on the Plano land to get a better deal from Dallas leaders.

Oh, I forgot who’s in charge.

RTO is the industry standard.

If you want WFH, its not here. Find another company.

It'll be tough and there's a lot of competition, because RTO is the norm. Everyone wants the sweet perks of a cushy WFH job. What's left of them...

Covid is over and most everyone is back in the office.

Good luck.
