Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

In office

For the mandatory 3 days in, people have been working 4 hours in the office and then going home to finish their day. Is this accurate. I don’t see anything that states it’s acceptable per WF.

As a former manager, reports are generated that show where you are working (via IP addresses) vs badge reports. They will soon be cracking down on those not working 8 hrs in the office.

Yes, three days a week has been written for years but where has it ever been written how much time you have to be in your seat at the office?

Show me where that was communicated by upper management to the masses. You can't because it hasn't.

What's irritating is that we get the 3 day, full day, talk and wouldn't you know, it's not the workers bees who are cupping but the ones above them, the ones telling us 3 days. They are the ones sc--wing it up for everyone else.

I have not been told anything. I stay 4-7 hours. It’s usually the loudness of others that makes me decide to leave after 4 hours. The stupid open floor plan increases distractions.

It’s not. It’s gaming the system that will end up hurting us all. That’s why they are quietly installing tracking programs like Theta Lake for licensed employees to track them.

@dz in some cases WF cut deals to locate in a certain building for tax breaks, so there is a requirement and huge swaths of office folk WFM could cause trouble in the CRE market. Smaller markets like Richmond VA may not be a large impact, for example.

HY doesn't care about propping up the CRE market or what local pols think. Few banks have bailed on more buildings / leases, or dumped more at a loss, than WF has over the last 5 years. If anything, WF is a reason why the market is tanking in the markets we used to have a major presence.

Let's see here

  •  a glut of vacant commercial real eastate - nope.

  • causing problems on the books - nope.

  • and local govt wants a thriving business district - nope.

I just checked and none of those are the worker's problems to solve.

Perhaps, just perhaps, if the in-office experience was more attractive for most workers, we'd be clamoring to spend time there. Forced misery will never work.

We were told 3 days 8 hours a day. Nobody knows what the logic for the reports is. But based on some of the comments above it must mean that somewhere up the line a manager is setting but the bar is. But I have seen people who have not hit the bar

I got meetings with the Indians crazy early. I come in later. I'm getting sick of hearing from the Karen's acting like they want everyone in the office so they can swing by and waste my time training them and chit chat, these dead weight folks can F off. I focus 100% on the work and go into the office for the requirement when i come up for air.

@a4 Yep same for me and many others. Managers are the ones who apply the rules and mine just says go in 3 times per week. No minimum hours have ever been mentioned. Some are told by their managers to be there x number of hours. My opinion is that is a ‘look what I’m doing’ for their manager. If I am told by my manager to stay a certain number of hours I will comply, but it won’t be due to the perception of others that I am not following the rules that they are told to follow.

Who cares! You show up. Some
of us have meetings all day and into the early morning and evening due to teams in UK, India, Minneapolis, Denver, California. You have to have flexibility for commute and long hours.

Yeah, consistently close all these expensive buildings and go full WFH for as many LOBs as possible. Crushing JPM and BofA expense ratios would be a cake walk.

I'll keep doing what I am doing until which point my manager tells me to do something different. only official guidance out there is half day PTO and holidays counts as an in office day.

The Exec in our dept. told a select group we have to work a full 7 hours in office due to this. Yet our peers in the same LOB weren't issue this guidance so they continue to work 4 hours and work rest of day at home. Be consistent WF! Too much inconsistency and managers making up their own rules. There isn't a policy anywhere that specifies any of this.
