Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

I like my job

That’s what makes all of this so hard. I actually like what I do. Watching what’s been happening here, and seeing a place that used to be great get systematically torn down piece by piece, really breaks my heart.

All of this is so true. I'm so grateful to be done with that place. I feel so much healthier. Anyone unhappy, take the plunge! It is a big world of opportunities out there! No need to waste your time at this place

This place lost all trust after it went ahead with the vaccine mandate in 2021-22.
Yes BNY wants people turbo cancered too.

@OP I agree. I like my job, my coworkers, but the management and culture is completely broken. Morale su-ks and it’s sad that it’s all counterproductive and long term it’s a destroyer of companies. It’s sad to witness. I’m just glad I’m closer to the end of my career than the beginning.

Some of us spent our entire career here I for Hassle, Renni, Gibbons, and other great leaders. We have a love for the company that compares us no other. And some of us don’t realize it is a different place that will never be like it once was.

@OP my questions are

  1. You must be rare and lucky ones not to receive phony reviews. And you deep in your heart believe BNY never gives/tells the lies.
  2. Never had issue with asking days off even with valid reasons.
  3. You have received at least decent raises and bonuses.
  4. You also believe BNY health insurance structures are phenomenal
    Just asking that is all.

@ap
Why don’t you go french kiss Robin’s behind while you are at it. You know what’s truly sickening? A jack a88 like you braying on about how you think people should behave. You have a lot to learn about life and respecting your betters little girl.

This place is terrible under RV. I cant understand how they are not having legal consequences against them. Bad enough to come here from the UK to run a US company but to say Funto americans and offshore our jobs. Then its force employees to wfh but now fire them cause you close their office and they cant go in and now its falsifying performance ratings and terminating people because of it or taking merit because of it. Yet robin since there giving bs interviews acting like king sh-t while destroying morale and this company

OP
You bet. There are a portion of us here (dwindling) and those now gone who spent a significant fraction of our lives here. Why?
Because we believed and we trusted.
That’s what hurts. The bank viewed us as qualified and the best in the world to do the job. Now all Of a sudden we are trash or non essential? We all get the ongoing march of technology and automation. We know that this company is trying to control expenses and overhead. We know it’s a challenging competitive market.
But…..
If the Bank’s management would have just been honest, upfront and empathic about it in terms of reductions. If this company that puts ‘do the right thing’ only tried to do the right thing by us. If they want to knock out local workers and hire cheaply in India then be upfront and give people packages and continues assistance with no muss. Maybe try to cut down on unnecessary management to take care of displaced workers. Instead people who trusted are ruined. Especially if they are in their late 40’s , 50’s and early 60’s. They gave up careers elsewhere. They trusted and were loyal.
And the bank threw them in the recycle bin.
These people are unemployable or will get vast pay cuts. This company has become a big lie.
We trusted and believed. We got hurt.
