Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Unbelievable

I have never sat on an all hands call for any organization except for Oracle who today shared on their all-hands call that Oracle is doing great, we are promoting two people to CEO status, had a stellar and historiacl Q1 earnings call, and not mention that thousands of people were only fired less then 20 days ago and no mention of that. That is just not a critique on Oracle alone, but a critique of corporate America.

Reading this I feel like diving into Aldous Huxley’s world, just a new brave world. The worse thing than being suddenly laid of is not being laid off and being kept and managed insure each next fu--ing day.

If Oracle has proved anything, it's its ability to come out of nowhere to be relevant again. I know the cuts su-k and will have repercussions for a long time. Think of Larry as a sailor...he waits and waits...and then the wind starts to shift, he springs into action. Now imagine he's an 80's PE banker...how do I best finance/leverage the boat and the crew? Last, imagine Larry as a lawn mower. It's just a machine that does a thing*.

  • BTW, Lawn mowers do not belong anywhere on a sailboat. And all those normal business people that stand up and cheer and have meetings? They are the very nice barnacles that no ship can avoid. Very pleasant if a bit shallow, and occasionally need removal.

It is unbelievable it took them so long to promote Clay as he is making the company hundreds of billions due to his cleverly designed AI platform that nobody in the world anticipated.

I had to attend these all hands hype sessions too, even if they were outside my working time. And I remember a boss/manager asked about salary increases, he got angry and aggressive saying that "people who deserve increases will get them" and the same guy was laid off next week! Our biggest profit increase was when we enabled an expensive useless feature by default in the OCI console. What a fu--ing joke! I am glad I am out now.

This is going to turn into French Revolution eventually...

French was not thorough enough. It should be Russian style, with aristocracy sla-ghtered to a man, woman or child.

It's not even malice but pure psychopathy. I think they actually believe their own words at this point and could not care less about their former (since very recently) colleagues. Not a single though is spared on them nor their families. Stock is up, yay!
