Changing the process would take too much work for Wells Fargo HR. Do you realize how long it took for them to create those service now scripts to limit your access, calculate your severance etc.?

Severance packages will be reduced to one week per year of service instead of the two weeks they are now (watch for updates to the benefits book); also the forced ratings curve/stacked ranking will continue and once you have 3 needs improvement ratings in a row (including mid-year) you'll be terminated without severance.

Not surprised. A big shout out to to you Charles Elliot for being such a Worthless Piece of Sh-t.

adding on to what @d7 and @e9 have said...

  • the "do more with less is expected" rhetoric is escalating
  • hours in office and 3 days/wk also provide a path to firing for cause

@d7 i'm seeing signs of this too. Now execs are focused on "why pay severance to exit an underperformer just fire them for cause"... and spans are back in the mix again with guidance to "exit" managers that don't meet spans... i'm sure this is just the beginning.

more likely hr and lawyers are working to make it happen

There will be a big increase next year in termination (performance, RTo, 8 hours, bad fit for role,etc). HR has been developing new processes to enable managers to move to dismissal faster. No layoff, no severance, just the end of the "at will" employment.

Beatings will continue until morale improves.

@ah right, I didn't mean the severance policy or plan. The expense planning for the company is to reduce severance expense in 2026

@a7

I think that “being laid off with no severance” means fired 🤷🏼

@af

No, the 8 week minimum 2 weeks per year severance is not being reduced.

Total amount of severance paid out will be reduced in 2026 because there won’t be as many layoffs.

@OP IF this is true. Big IF, they still have to do the 60 day WARN Act notice if the numbers are there. They can make you work the notice period or not.

@a7 no way to drive attrition. No matter how miserable people are, pay check is needed.

@a6 severance is being reduced, but that doesn't mean they'll do layoffs with no severance.

The OP makes it sound like you'll be laid off with no severance.

What it means is that they're going to try the voluntary attrition route. Coincidentally lining up with 8 hour rules and activity tracking. Just coincidentally of course.

Nothing has changed. Layoffs will continue through 2026.
