Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Is CISO Rich Baich adhering to AT&T's ethical standards or acting in his own self interest?

Did Rich Baich engage in conduct that may constitute a conflict of interest? Rich Baich serves as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and Senior Vice President at AT&T. Rich's daughter, for reference, serves as Director of Product Management at SimSpace, a cybersecurity training platform.

  • In November 2024, Rich Baich hosted SimSpace’s Cyber Cup competition at AT&T's HQ, in which AT&T placed first in the Cyber Cup Defensive Challenge.
  • Rich and his daughter presented together at RSAC 2025 in a session titled “Nurturing the Next Generation of Cyber Defenders” on April 28, 2025. https://www.rsaconference.com/experts/rich-baich

  • Rich Baich hosted the 2025 “Telecommunications Cyber Cup Challenge,” involving 13 global telecommunications carriers in Washington D.C., with SimSpace. https://www.attconnects.com/working-together-to-prepare-for-tomorrows-threats-today/

Do these activities represent a potential conflict of interest, abuse of position or authority, lack of objectivity, breach of fiduciary duty, or violation of corporate ethics policies?

@ag Jordan Wigley is the Assistant Vice President in Arkansas. Don’t forget Marlott Lang, AVP, is still residing in Florida. John Stankey might want to meet with Jeremy Legg to obtain an update on the L3/L4s violating RTO.

Is Ashley Baich friends with Meaghan Stankey? Are they connected on social media?

@af
" he both says something really really stupid while at the same time trying to act like he's an authority on everything."

His bank pal hires are just as stupid. At one meeting, one actually asked "why does AT&T have so many router orders?" Only to have to be told that we have a large internet backbone that spans the entire country and provides internet service to millions of people. Apparently he's used to branch bank offices using off the shelf Best Buy routers or something.

So when you wonder why we have no network security, these are the m0r0ns providing network security these days.

There was clearly a conflict of interest with Rich's daughter being an executive at SimSpace. He needs to be held accountable.

He a pompous arrogant tool. I had to meet with him several times prior to my retirement. He's rude, exasperating and full of himself. He's just a bully. None of my legacy T colleagues had anything nice to say about him either.

Baich is a weasle that tries to act like a thug. Probably why Legg does nothing about his antics as Legg is a weasle who acts like a weasle.

Baich is one of those bad leaders who tries to motivate through threats. Every meeting I've been in with him, he both says something really really stupid while at the same time trying to act like he's an authority on everything. Then pulls out some metric chart saying people are under-performing and can find someone else if they can't do better.

“He is not a crook” - is this meant to be a Nixon reference? If so - lol.

Amazed at how someone in this position - employed to defend and govern policy - can skirt policies that they should be well aware of. Guess that also explains why he’s not sitting in Dallas like he should be but instead building a base in Charlotte, which last I checked was not an ATS approved hub.
