If this is true, the impact could bring the whole company down. You can't just cut 15,000 people and hope the ship does not eventually sink....just sayin...

The impact is not going to bring the company down. They just outsource more and get rid of jobs that aren't really needed and don't add to the bottom line. Back in 2003 they had a buyout of over 21,000 employees. All left at the same time and the company just hummed along. Sure there were more employees in total back then, but just the same, they will do what they always have. Dump more on the employees that are left. Slash and burn all the pet projects that add no value and hopefully collapse some of the needless management layers within the company.
@ag Where are people getting this idea from? This is the largest single layoff in VZ history...that is a fact. Are you combining VSP/Rifs over the last decade?
Last year VSP saw 4,800
2018 - 10,400 VSP
I wouldn't. They have chopped far more than 15,000 and the media was silent. Now they be singing like canaries whipping it up into a frenzy. We all know why.
I'm encouraging everyone to switch carriers because reducing headcount 15-20K is not going to improve service. The momentary bump in stock price is nothing more than pump and dump. Once there's further erosion in subscribers, the stock price will fallback to earth and be ripe for M&A.
15 thou employees at about 5 lines per employee is 75 thou lines lost just by laying people off and don't forget all the friends and families of those employees who may be tempted to just go check out the pink shirt company
They think they are bleeding customers now wait until you have 15 thou detractors taking their lines elsewhere
Buts don't worry, big wigs gonna be fine in their second vacation homes on turkey day knowing they may get a couple dollars in stock value
@a4 Actually management is incredibly inefficient when it comes having 50 direct reports 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
We don’t need 1 local manager for ever for every 16 guys making over $100,000 each, plus insurance and a company vehicle. Then the 2nd level making over $130,000 with only 8 direct reports and so on. It’s ridiculous. We don’t need micro managed and it isn’t cost affective. A manger can email 50 guys to say read this or get out of the garage in 20 minutes or take your net learns as fast as he can email 16 guys. . He just tripled his production
@a1 how about customer facing project managers? Lol
It’s going to be fine lol you act that every role is needed. If your role is not customer facing, network technician, or net add producing then you are in trouble.
Critical roles will be fine, now the 20k+ project manager roles…. Yea they have to go. Either you add value and do something or you are stealing company money by scheduling so many useless meetings.
