Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Fiddelke

Resorting to low attacks bc why not, but did we think we’d be safe when the incoming CEO can’t even tell the abomination that is his horrible balding pattern? Targets doomed if the incoming CEO can’t even see the problems directly in front of him.

@ap No one who isn't in the c-suite or close to it is referring to this guy as "Michael." C-suite lurkers are among us.

@am Agreed. AI could have written a more empathetic and compassionate email.

  1. bald is beautiful
  2. If you think that the layoffs are “his fault” you are way off base. Target has lost its mojo, I see it at the stores and online.
  3. Layoffs won’t change the culture. The cultural problems go deeper, and the company is way too bureaucratic

@af How long has he been part of the C-Suite now? Why are things all of a sudden going to change now? Newsflash, he isn't that smart, and being authentic at Target is a pretty low bar to meet. I give him a year until he's canned.

I respectfully disagree - he’s clearly and authentically called out that the org has become bloated and it‘s interfering with the business. I suspect the cuts will be too deep in some areas and not deep enough in others, but it’s hard to use a scalpel on a 10k plus team member organization.

@ak fair point on Bob - so last 18 years? Also, Michael is, in my opinion, a warmer human.

@ag he wasn’t at the helm.

@af his email subject was "HQ change that fuels our future," something that sounds overly positive and optimistic for an email that is saying there's a layoff coming. Such a tone-deaf message seems neither intelligent nor thoughtful. If it's authentic, then that's even worse.

@af that’s really great to hear! Thanks for sharing! I don’t know if you can say “in the last 20 years” though. I think Bob Ulrich was a great CEO and truly cared about the employees and the company.

I thinking attacking his appearance is childish and uncalled for. It's not nessesary and doesn't help anything. It just shows you are angry and don't know where to redirect that anger towards.

I don't know him. But I think if he is an authentic, thoughtful person, comments like this one are what freeze people's compassion.

@af if he were smart then why the fu-k does the company su-k right now? Walmart is kicking our a-s.

I’ve known Michael since he first started as an intern. He’s probably one the most intelligent, authentic and thoughtful people to be in the C suite in the last 20 years.

The guy can also not get a full sentence out, whether it's scripted content or off the cuff. TT this year hearing from him did not inspire confidence, so this all tracks.
