I had a colleague scheduled to join a 11am call with a customer and myself. We'd been working on solving an issue for them for a week. At 10:45 I get a message on slack OMG I just got laid off and they locked my computer. This was the beginning of a terrible day. I had to join the 11am call and explain that my colleague of 20 years was suddenly laid off. Makes me sick to think about it. The customer wanted him to know they were very sorry to hear this. :( Then the heads kept rolling. Horrible experience. Then at 3pm a meeting was held introducing us to our new VP and welcoming us to the new team. The attitude was shake it off and move on. #survivorsguilt

I heard you're supposed to use AI to get the workd done for the people who were laid off. Ask Larry's AI for help automating their jobs. And yours while you're at it.

Work your contracted hours and no more. End of year review ratings don't matter and it's the norm that there's no focal each year anyway.

Put your effort into your own endeavours rather than an ungrateful employer.

My entire team up to and including director level was cut on Tuesday along with two other teams in the org as well. Good luck to O if they think all these people can be replaced with a room full of GPU and not affect customer satisfaction. I can think of a couple customers that will probably rethink their OCI plans now that the people that were assisting them have suddenly disappeared. Telling them to work with a chatbot instead won't be a compelling reason to trust Oracle to handle their business workloads. I had customer meetings scheduled today that I had no way to notify anyone weren't going happen as my access was cutoff immediately after I was notified. Oh well, not my problem now!

We can only do so much in a day, after my day ends I stop working.

Going to be a hoot if asked to. =)

When I found out the new ticketing system they were rolling out has "Auto Triage", I knew the writing was on the wall. They're planning on AI doing most of the work

Yes, that’s exactly what they expect. No matter what to be available all the time.

That is exactly what was expected in previous rounds - we were given responsibility for systems we knew nothing about, had no access to and had no idea who used them
