Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Comical or denial?

What I find comical is when someone tries to give people the heads up on this board and its often met with heckling and jeering. When the day comes shortly thereafter…..it gets all serious. The hecklers disappear and can’t be found, most undoubtedly combing the emails, group chats and personal texts to see if “it” is coming their way.

@cs no it’s not. That’s a spinoff. Announced 2.5 years ago. Layoff do not equal spin offs. Words have meanings. You should try to understand them before use use them.

And it’s 40K not 50K.

And the claim is 15% Fed 15th.

Try to keep up.

@af This is all anonymous - how would you know who was posting what? Once Mexico is sold off through an IPO in 2026 that will be an "instant" cut of just under 50,000 Citi staff.

But there is zero chance he’ll be right.

AND if he’s right, you won’t come back and post how wrong YOUR were either.

The naysaying is a defense mechanism. If I ignore it, it’ll go away. Just like the naysaying on leaving Citi. You get tons of “its the same everywhere, no use to leave”. People don’t like to be alone while suffering. Its a safe space if you will, a comfort to resolve themselves to not look outside of Citi. Resolving oneself that this is as good as its going to get.

LOL I don’t think a single poster here has accurately called a layoff. See the jack-off who said 15% by Q1. He for sure won’t be posting to gloating how right he is. The ridicule is well deserved.
