Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Weekly Presence report slightly wrong . . .

I know I have been away for a couple weeks due to vacation, CGDO, and illness so I did not attempt to make sense of those weeks. Most recent report is pretty accurate, but still wrong and understating my hours in the office, as always.

The report calculates time as a perce tage.. if it shows 8.5 it means it's 8 hours and 30 minutes and not 8 hrs and 50.. if there is one metric that can be absolute that is time..That has to be the most stupid thing ever to do.

Why on earth would someone try to convert time as a percentage.. That should tell you enough about this sc--wed up report..

@af I average 8-9 hours daily and it will frequently short me to around 4 hours. Some days it shows I swiped in but gives me no hours whatsoever. I’m fine with having my hours tracked, it’s just a digital punch clock, but it does need to be accurate.

@c6 Do you work 10 hours a day? Maybe that is reason why you don't look at the presence report.

It’s wild this company has reduced people with bachelors, masters, and some even PhD’s - to arguing about hours on a time sheet.

I have looked at the presence report 0 times since this sh-t started.
0.

I legit do not care, it’s inaccurate, it’s a joke, they can go fu-k themselves.
I know my value and I’m too valuable for them to get rid of, I literally ignore it.

No one has spoken to me once, ever.

@bk Bro. Have you tried and confirmed that is the case? Technically, that is only 7.5 hours, not even close to 8 hours. I may try it one day and see for it myself.

@be You get in at 8:58 and leave at 5:17 and the stup!d report will give you credit for 8.5 hours. Usually works. You always try to arrive just before a cutoff and leave just after. This is the level of idiocy this company has reached.

@b6 Who told you the presence report rounds down in the evening? Try it out and you will know that is not true. It is always the quarter before and not after. See the examples below.

8:00 will be recorded if you swiped between 8:00 - 8:14
8:15 will be recorded if you swiped between 8:15 - 8:29
8:30 will be recorded if you swiped between 8:30 - 8:44
8:45 will be recorded if you swiped between 8:45 - 8:59

You may ask how I know? I validated all of these scenarios and I suggest you work at least 8.5 hours per day to cover your a$$.

Why on earth does the presence report round up in the morning when we come to the office, and round down when in the afternoon when it is time to leave?

It is never the other way around. It always seems to have the odds stacked against the employee and underestimate hours rather than overestimate hours. I've never heard anyone ever mention that their hours were overestimated by mistake.

@a6 what good will that spreadsheet be when you’re already laid off and locked out of your computer.

Are you above 6-7 hours daily average (depends on your particular management) , thats all this is for, it served its intended purposes already, it weeded out those folks that were abusing and in the office less than 5hrs daily.. Very few if any of those left today.

Badge out when you leave. It time stamps back to the last quarter hour. You can count on the network ping to account for your last hour in the office. Badging out ensures your time is counted.

"If they short you on hours it forces you to stay longer and worry."

I keep my own stats and verify with various activity logs so I don't worry about what the presence report says. I suggest everyone keep their own reporting.

It has never been and will never be 100% accurate. That’s because they don’t want it to be. If they short you on hours it forces you to stay longer and worry.
