Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Agree with tech layoffs

But can we actually make some good product and get it to market in under 2 years?
Can we stop the embarrassing marketing blunders like the World Cup sleeve fu-k up and the Boston marathon disaster?
Operating costs will look better but sales don’t lie.
Hoping to be laid off as this place seems clueless as f and I’ve been here for 20 years.
Feeling for the folks laid off that will suffer.

Tech layoffs and the savings will not solve Nike’s core problems in product, marketing and innovation. They are a temporary distraction.

@cd Yes, but there are too many unemployed US citizens in tech to warrant allowing even ONE more h1b worker in right now.

It's a bloodbath out there skilled American workers, why are we still importing skilled foreign workers?

The H1B program is not being used for its intended purpose.

Nike is strategically focused on high-growth emerging markets like India. Under trade and market-access expectations, companies expanding in India are often expected to contribute to local employment and economic development. ITC plays an important role in that ecosystem. It would be shortsighted to shut down ITC operations while continuing to expect smooth growth and market acceptance for Nike products in India.

Regarding H-1B, this program has been one of the key drivers behind Silicon Valley’s rise and the United States’ leadership in technology.

Retaining highly skilled H-1B talent strengthens American innovation, competitiveness, and economic growth. If that talent is pushed away and returns to countries like India, they may build the next generation of global platforms—future versions of Meta Platforms, Google, or other major digital services—creating value elsewhere instead of in the U.S.

Look, it’s so simple, even the low-energy "experts" with their fake degrees can’t understand it. I have a very, very large brain—some say the largest—and I’ve seen what’s happening. It’s a disaster! A total, beautiful disaster.

First of all, the business side of this company? Total losers. Paper pushers. We’re cutting the entire business side. 100%. Gone! We don’t need them. They don't make anything, they just sit there. We’re getting rid of the suits, the bean counters, all of them. It’s going to be a clean slate, a very powerful slate.

And EH? Let me tell you about EH. I’ve been watching EH, and it’s not good. Very weak. Very nasty. Everyone is saying it. So, EH, I’m looking at you right now, and I’m saying the words nobody else has the guts to say: YOU’RE FIRED! Get out! Get him out of here! Pack your bags, EH, you’re finished! Total catastrophe!

We’re closing the ITC campuses—both of them—instantly. Bang! Gone! A very historic move. And these H1Bs? A total scam. We’re stopping them all. We only want our local talent, the beautiful, elite local talent. They’re the best, believe me. If they don't perform? Bo-m. Out. We do the toughest reviews. Very nasty reviews. No mercy!

The money is going to flow in like a giant, beautiful flood. The most money anyone has ever seen. The overhead is going to vanish—poof!—and the margins will be so high, people will walk up to me with tears in their eyes and say, "Sir, how did you make it so perfect?" And I’ll say, "It was easy."

It’s absolute perfection. We’re making this company great again! So simple!

Look, it’s beyond simple. People are afraid to say it, but I’m saying it louder than anyone.

You’re probably not even in tech, and somehow you understood it better than the so-called experts. Completely nailed it at a level nobody else even comes close to. The only thing missing? The so-called tech cuts. Honestly, a total joke. Massively overrated.

The smart move, the unbelievably smart move, is realigning with skilled local talent. We have phenomenal people right here. The absolute best anywhere. Nobody can compete with them. You don’t need to go halfway across the planet when you’ve got elite, world-dominating talent sitting right here at home.

Close the ITC campuses. Both of them. Instantly. No delays, no excuses. Lay off that entire ITC staff in one clean move. Decisive, powerful, historic. That’s how you wipe out inefficiency overnight.

Stop renewing H1Bs. Completely. Shut it down. It’s been abused like you wouldn’t believe. Everybody knows it, nobody has the courage to fix it until now.

Then you do real performance reviews. Not the fake kind, not the weak, rubber-stamp nonsense. The toughest, most honest reviews anyone has ever seen. If local talent is coasting for even a second, they’re gone immediately. No exceptions, no mercy. You perform at an elite level every single day, or you’re out. Gone.

And then? You sit back and watch money pour in like a flood. Like nothing anyone has ever seen before. Overhead disappears completely. Margins skyrocket to levels people thought were impossible. It’s unbelievable. It’s historic. It’s the most beautiful thing you’ll ever see when it’s executed properly.

So simple. So clean. So unbelievably powerful it changes everything. It’s not just effective. It’s perfect. Absolute perfection.

you're probably not in tech, so everything you said is spot on minus the tech cuts

the right move is realigning skilled local tech talent, and close both ITC campus, layoff that entire ITC staff.

stop renewing h1b's

do performance reviews properly, if said local talent is coasting, cut them

sit back and watch the mola flow in and overhead disappear, it's a beautiful thing when executed right

so simple, so flawless, so awesome
