@bt I don’t think all rolls get that.

@bq weren't you under."unlimited vacation"? If so no vacations are accrued so you don't get any vacation payment.

@ae

No, false. I was paid about 6 weeks of pay total for the garden leave and 3+ weeks or so of vacation in my final. The severance was separate and 26 weeks.

It is nothing like your typical LEARING CENTER brings in, but it was a better sendoff than simply quitting.

A person close to me had worked at a place for 15 years and got 4 weeks severance early last year. So yeah, going out with 29 extra weeks felt pretty good.

I've seen better but I've also seen worse, a lot worse, like just getting paid through the end of the month.

@a9 Actually 23 weeks because the 3 weeks of garden leave were deducted from your final severance payment.

@a9

I have only been laid off once in my life, but all of my other details match yours. I wonder how many other people from that last layoff (3400 or so?) were in the same boat?

Here we are 6 months out, I still have enough to last 6 months more before dipping into savings. I thought about working again, but maybe I won't. SSA will be paying me relatively soon.

@a1 Seriously!

I've been laid off from so many jobs over my lifetime I can't count them. One place that let me go I actually got severance. $300. Whoopee! The other places didn't even give that.

Oracle, I was laid off on Sept 2, stop working, you're done. Full pay and benefits until Sept 22. Never heard of a company doing that before, PLUS six months' pay (26 weeks) in severance - yes I worked there for more than 25 years.

Where the H E Double Hockey-Sticks was OP laid off from that makes Oracle's severance the worst they'd seen?

Oracle does cut off the medical benefits faster than most companies but the salary payout was around the industry standard. Since the affordable care act subsidies were gutted at the end of last year this will be a big shock to a lot of people when they go to look for a cobra replacement.
