Magellan Layoffs coming 2026!!!!!!!

Any thoughts on Magellan Health getting rid of all Health plans? I heard they will be getting more Public Sector Accounts. How does Magellan Health do layoffs?

@q6q Any idea which departments are impacted? I heard they were going to combine the rest of health plan and employer and eliminate more staff and go down to one manager on that side since they aren't planning to renew any of the existing employer carve out plans or health plans. They will lose two more employer carve out accounts by the end of the year and then have only one health plan account that will term at the end of 2027.

@ade they are out of the commercial business . All commercial contracts are being de-implemented . That’s at least two thirds of the company . They will try to rebuild in the Medicaid space . Layoffs are occurring now and again in February .

@aca 40 percent of the entire company? That’s a lot more than I think a lot of people knew about. Agree that it’s been very hush, hush. I can’t even find any WARN notices so I wonder if they were able to get around that somehow.

so a 40% layoff is planned and notices started Friday. I know 22 people impacted so far but it is all being done so secretly, super weird

@66z they went to top heavy Jira and Agile that doesn’t fit their business model. They over reach with DEI indoctrination into employees personal decisions and seem to violate PHI asking about vaccine status. Many hired seem to be consultants with non American names.

Does anyone have any more information about how many and who is impacted? They said staff will be notified this week but it has been radio silent and no info so far.

@OP Magellan is going to lay off a little over a thousand people who are all getting notices on October 31. All of the health plan accounts that have been terminated are going to lay off staff and the people from claims, customer service, account management, IT, etc will be gone. They may take some underperforming staff from employer and lay them off too, but I've only heard speculation about this and not for certain. Magellan has had way too many employees that have been there for too long that refuse to change or adjust and managers that are lazy that delegate everything and do absolutely nothing except blakenother departments for their poor performance instead of taking responsibility for their team or their own actions. They are cleaning house to bring the company back and be competitive and they can't do that with people who refuse to change or resist change or refuse to take responsibility and blames others.

Sounds like a bad plan due to the upcoming cuts to Medicaid and possible continued cuts/changes under this administration. Magellan is a sinking ship in my opinion. Wish I could recommend somewhere better, but I can't.
