Leadership is counting on you being scared enough about your job that you’ll take on the work of those who were just laid off. Don’t do it. Don’t play their game. Say you’re busy, which, let’s be honest, most of us already are. Let them see what happens when you cut that many people and expect the same work to get done.

OMB this MB has jumped the shark
tbh i'm looking to get out of here asap at this point4
@OP This is bullsh-t. If you don0t do whatever your boss tells, you'll be on the black list for the next round. Join a meeting outside your working hours? No way to loose it, not to answer emails even on weekends/night? FORGET IT!
Just start searching for a better place to work, or start your own business.
No one can fight against this. We're doomed!
@ad NO ONE IS SAFE. NO ONE IS INDISPENSABLE
All the employees are using the AI model, so all fed the "big data". All your tasks belongs to the model, the model can do everything.
We're fu***d.
This isn't going to be the only layoff. If you would have been impacted this week would it have been a big deal in your life? You should be looking for an exit while trying to balance out what will happen with the workload. Maybe a more tempered plan other than intentionally pi----g off your boss might be more prudent. Maybe when they want to put more on your plate ask to have other lower priority items removed or set aside. Chances are the extra work got dumped on your boss too. Did they have any input to who got fired in this round? Maybe, maybe not but if they get an input next time the people who were a pain to them now will be the ones they offer up. Think your response through if you job is important to you is all I am saying.
@a2 or just make yourself indispensable so you reduce your risk of layoff. Let’s be honest, several areas in Oracle are/were super bloated. Leaders are constantly asking to hire more and more HC but I’ve yet to see any real data or reasoning for the need. Not once have I seen any kind of resource capacity model indicating teams are short staffed. I’ve only been here 3 years and can tell you out of the several of the largest companies I’ve worked at in the world, I’ve never seen organizations as bloated as we are for the amount of work.
@OP That was already the strategy before the massive layoff on Tuesday. Will those who survived really survive. Hard to say but that is the Oracle way. Set boundaries and remember this moment and how people were treated when you are asked to stay late, check and respond to email on vacation, or give up time with your family so you can help the greater Oracle cause. Remember how they treated these 30k people and the boundaries become easier to set
