Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

June 4th is the actual mass layoff day! It's all AI driven too!

In a meeting about AI, (I am working on two Claude AI models now) it was slipped to myself and another by a market VP that they are looking deep into AI driven models to replaced human bodies. May is the month they will be collecting names of those that have not done all the AI training, looking to flat out replace them with AI driven models. The bottom line is this, on June 4th those that have just rejected AI and have not embraced AI will be removed from Verizon. Those that have embraced AI and have done all the training will still be employed on June 5th. That is the plan as it was told to me. On a side note our Claude code will replace many bodies in finance.

If you are out on short term disability does that mean you are automatically part of RIF? I haven't done any of the trainings as I return in June 5~

Additional layoffs will occur according to what the CEO needs to meet his metrics and receive his ~$60M bonus. Until his departure at EOY2027, VZ will be operated according to his needs and not what is best for the company. Similar to all these id--ts salivating over the EPS increase and VZ providing guidance for future EPS increases. What do these people think a $25B stock buyback program is all about? Rather than pay down a portion of the enormous debt, VZ must prop up the stock and continue to increase distributions to prevent a sell off. The VZ Board are the ones that need to be shown the door.

the problem is that telco don't do anything anymore. the whole thing can be ran by 1000 people only. The teclo don't make the phones... they don't make the towers.... they don't even make the app anymore. It is only putting the sim card into the phone. nothing else the teclo does. There might be a collapse in this indrustry coming very soon

@ac Im not sure how you could say that. Ignorance I suppose. Claude is beyond good, if you know enough to have it work well with you. Its ability to code, look at messaging, and document are worth a team of 50 engineers. Far from worthless for those of us that actually use it.

Verizon (Never) in its' history does a layoff in June.

Normally, April and/or October; of each year.

This post is Total Garbage, if it does (actually) happen; it will be May 7th like the other post mentioned.

Fine, do it already. This company is a multinational corporate monolith that treats customers and employees in a hostile manner.

AI is (Total Garbage) in reality.

GIGO Hype - Garbage In - Garbage Out.

Stock market crash (in the future) with the AI Data Center (Overbuild), along with AI CAPEX spending significantly declining; with ROI not being met over time.

My Polymarket bet (if I ever made) one would be May 7th.

That way it would reflect in the May, not April's BLS layoff numbers.
